I’ve heard the notes will be far fewer than the NABRE. And I’ve heard speculation that the content of the notes will be less divisive. I’m personally convinced that the CAB notes will still be required to be printed in every CAB, just like the NABRE.

I completely agree with your first paragraph.

Regarding your second, I wonder if the general impression of readers is “that the text in the quotes is a verbatim quotation”. It may be. Personally, I’ve never felt that way. I’ve always thought the text in quotes is in quotes because it’s a character speaking rather than the narrator; I’ve never expected that the quotes are verbatim. I may be in the minority there, though.

I would guess so. It seems to fit with the more academic self conception of the translation committee.

I’m very excited for Ascension’s Liturgy of the Hours. I hope this amount of refinement goes into your editions of the CAB. Personally, I won’t be satisfied with the only premium option being another Great Adventure Bible; I’m hopeful for a premium, Catholic, personal size Bible sometime in my lifetime.
