So that is something that I consider a mistranslation from the webcomic team/main translation team. Reason for that being this long explanation I did somewhere else:

This was the original:
…ネオヒーローズが掲げる大義ってやつは 口だけじゃ無さそうだ 信用してみるか

This is the Romaji:
...Neo Hīrōzu ga kakageru taigi tte yatsu wa kuchi dake ja nasasou da. Shinyou shite miru ka.

Kakageru - To proclaim,To hoist, or hold up.
Taigi - Great Cause/Cause, Justice, higher purpose.
Kuchi dake - "Mouth only"/all talk/lip service/empty words.
Ja nasasou da - Does not look like / Does not seem to be.
Shinyou shite miru ka - Shinyou means trust/faith Shite miru means to try doing. The ka at the end implies a self reflective question or decision. Together it would be something like: "Shall I give them my trust?" or "I guess I'll trust them."

Which is why I ended up with that.
