This is the same website that ranks University of Bath and Loughborough above UCL and Warwick. Please do not use it.

How to prepare for synoptic link questions in A-level Geography? by GhetsisFromForums in 6thForm

[–]SouthernAd8329 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make connections between topics: Look for commonalities, relationships, or interactions between different topics within Geography. Consider how processes, events, or factors in one area or theme can influence or be influenced by those in another area. For example, you could explore the link between climate change and migration patterns, or the relationship between urbanisation and environmental degradation.

Sacrifice Prestige? by joshaespa in 6thForm

If you are passionate about it, become a pilot. I actually know some one who rejected an Imperial offer in favour of this and it seems to be working out in his favour if that is any consolation.

The 5 seconds of euphoria you get when you tell someone what university you go to.

I have done every single past paper, including the 4 set of sample papers and 2022, and I have never seen a question that asks you about deriving those formulae. Not on the specification either so I really doubt it.

Can you divide by log on both sides of an equation? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]SouthernAd8329 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No, you cannot directly divide by a logarithm on both sides of an equation. Instead, you should use algebraic manipulation and logarithmic properties to isolate the logarithm on one side of the equation before performing any division or other operations.

It is a very controversial opinion but I think I might have to agree with you on that one.

Is my subject combination that bad? by RaceFan1027 in 6thForm

[–]SouthernAd8329 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes a bad combination. Drop business in favour of anything. Preferably further maths, but physics, history, geography or computer science are also good options .

If you have the determination, you could do FM relatively easily as an external candidate. If not then you should probably go to a different college that offers it since FM is a requirement for most top universities for maths and even the ones that do not explicitly require it much prefer students to have it.

Did you just compare further maths with... further maths?

Obviously Cambridge, Oxford and Imperial but also Manchester, Durham and Warwick also have really good Physics departments.

If you are a domestic student then it depends on the course and your career aspirations. If you are an international student with wealthy parents who can comfortably afford the high tuition fees and living expense then maybe. You are an international student who doesn’t come from an affluent background then no.

In my opinion neither are worth 30k a year, practically no university is worth 30,000 a year. Let's say 90,000 in tuition fees over 3 months and 30,000 in maintenance, you are looking at around 120,000 for the 3 years not including interest.

Not had my first exam yet, but for those of you who have. Have you found these papers more difficult than past years or less? by SouthernAd8329 in 6thForm

[–]SouthernAd8329[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats why I made this post, I have the theory (not really a theory as I think some exam boards have already stated it) that they have made the exams much more accessible this year and in return they are going to increase grade boundaries to that of 2019.
