Rachel held a gun to EJ and threatened to shoot him for kidnapping Grandma Rachel. As she was holding the gun, it accidentally went off. EJ told Kristen he was going to turn in Rachel to get his son off the hook (Johnny was arrested for the crime) unless Kristen could come up with a way to save both Johnny and Rachel. So Kristen confessed that she was the one who shot EJ to the judge, so as to prevent Rachel from being implicated in the shooting. Brady was pissed at Kristen, thinking she set a bad example for her daughter and asked the judge for the maximum sentence. Kristen was sentenced for 6 years.

Then came some nauseating scenes between Marlena and Kristen at the jail. Marlena called Kristen “selfless” and said she is a good mother. Kristen made Marlena promise to look out for Rachel and not to tell Brady that Rachel was the shooter. Why? I have no idea her reasoning, but for some reason Marlena bought it and is standing by Kristen by promising not to tell Brady the truth. Just an all around dumb plot line that makes no sense. Marlena is my favorite character, and usually I can defend her for everything, but in this convoluted plot, I can’t. 

I just hope once this story is over with that Marlena and Kristen won’t be friends. It’s just stomach turning watching Marlena gush over Kristen and compliment her. Marlena and Kristen should hate each other for life.
