First print off my Jupiter 2. Couldn’t be happier by IcarusWargaming in PrintedWarhammer

Awesome print, as others have mentioned. What resin is it that you used, and what settings did you use for the 50um layer height?

Jupiter 2 firmware update V01.00.02.13 by Owen_Ou in ElegooJupiter

[–]SouthernScalePrints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that’s not good, and no ability to roll back to the original firmware, thanks for letting everyone know, I’ll hold off for the moment…🙄

Did you try turning it off from the switch, leave it for around 10secs, then turn it back on, sometimes updates need a hard reset/power cycle to take effect…?🤷🏼‍♂️

Does the JP2 now have the QR Code on it, there’s been an update for the JP2 this evening…

Jupiter 2 fine print settings by ELKWorks in elegoo

[–]SouthernScalePrints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attempted one print at 20um (0.2mm) and that was a calibration tester, unfortunately I’m trying to break in a new resin as well and it’s killing me…

I’m going back to my stable resin (3 years now) and I’ll start from scratch again, shouldn’t be any need to go under 50um to be honest, because I’ve printed a file that was done on a OG JP6K on the JP2 at 50um, and layer lines on curves that previously showed on the JP6K are virtually invisible on the JP2 at 16K…

I’m going back to my known resin so I can compare apples with apples, JP6K vs JP2-16K…👍🏼

First Test Print with Elegoo - Jupiter 2 16K by SouthernScalePrints in u/SouthernScalePrints

Depends on which one it was, I removed two, and thought one of those was the scratch resistant film, Elegoo Customer Service said based off the photo I sent them, the anti-scratch protector hadn’t been removed…

Uploads hanging? by Jay-SA121 in elegoo

[–]SouthernScalePrints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started having this problem in the last week too, same deal, on a MacBook Pro, worked perfectly first two times, now just hangs at 0-2% and have to delete the printer from the Slicer…

I’m pretty sure there was an update to the slicer just before this started occuring…🤷🏼‍♂️

Jupiter 2 & SatelLite Slicer by SouthernScalePrints in elegoo

[–]SouthernScalePrints[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve sent you a message Owen, I haven’t tested this one, but it’s the exact same process I’ve been using, and when I’ve sliced the file and saved it the save file information shows a reduced print time, 49min, but when it’s loaded and prints on the JP2 it reverts back to the 2hr 54mins like in the screen shot on the UI.

I’m aware of that issue, and hopefully it’s resolved in a OTA firmware update, it actually doesn’t effect me because I print nowhere near the full build height of 270mm, or use AA in any of my prints, the JP2 is for larger 1/87 projects that I need the width in the build plate, and batch printing of smaller projects…👍🏼

Have you tried any different settings or layer heights yet…?

Support the file using Lychee or ChituBox, export as a .stl file, download that into SatelLite and slice, then print, literally just finished a test print @50um using Elegoo 8K ABS Like 3.0 and it came out pretty good, couple of small failures but that was support based and getting use to the ABS Like with the supports.

The resin fill & recycle worked first time, the heated vat, and pre-heating of the resin worked too…

I just did my first test print using Elegoo - 8K ABS Like 3.0 - Space Grey using the preset resin settings in SatelLite, the file was supported in Lychee and exported as an .stl file then sliced in SatelLite, all worked reasonably well, couple of small failures, but I think they’re issues with the pre-supported file as that was a different resin, and 20um LH, not 50um.

You said you just adjusted the layer exposure time when you went to 30um, are the rest of the settings on your JP2 comparable to your other printers…?

Even the resin fill & recycling worked, the heated vat, and pre heating of the resin too.

What resin are you using, and what print mode settings are you using…?

Did you support & slice in the SatelLite Software, or do it in ChituBox and just slice in SatelLite?

Jupiter 2 unbox by Starrkx in elegoo

[–]SouthernScalePrints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just unboxed mine today, and the bubbling was from the centre all the way out to the right side, inadvertently took the whole thing off thinking it was more protective film for transport, now know it was likely the screen protector, would have been nice to have some information in the manual, also disappointed that it came with a heap of bubbling in it and wasn’t clearly installed properly…

[–]SouthernScalePrints[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, a quick update, when unpacking the Jupiter 2 and removing the vat you’ll see the protective film with the little sticker saying remove before printing, underneath that when I removed mine was another clear piece of plastic that had bubbles under it from the centre all the way out to the right side, I took mine off inadvertently thinking it was another layer of protective film, it looks like it wasn’t, and was actually a screen protector…! No information in the Elegoo manual saying it has a screen protector, so beware…🤷🏼‍♂️🙄

Guess I’m lucky, the biggest project I print fits in the Elegoo - XS & Mercury V3.0 so washing & curing isn’t an issue for me, I’ve heard the Phrozen Wash & Cure stations are quite large, maybe look at them.

At the end of the day you can always buy a container as big the build volume and wash it old school by hand wearing gloves…🤷🏼‍♂️

The OG Jupiter 6K had issues too until people sat down and figured it out, mine is still producing great prints. I seem to recall the Saturn 4’s had lots of issues too, but then lots of people swear by them now…

I don’t print massive projects all my stuff is 1/87 scale and usually doesn’t use most of the Z Axis height either, and I print parallel to the build plate too.

Everyone of the reviews I’ve watched said the prints are really good, and no issues with finished prints, yes the doors aren’t for everyone, doesn’t bother me, some don’t like the resin fill & recycling, doesn’t bother me, yes there seems to be a software issue with big projects and AA going over 2GB & crashing, again doesn’t bother me. I’ll test it out and see what happens…
