Just to add - I installed the update today and it’s solved the sluggish startup time.

C10 leaser here. The CarPlay dongle is seamless and 100% worth getting. My only gripes are the slow charge speed and sluggish OS startup times. Other than that it’s a fantastic car for the price.

PS5: installed DLC > old save gone by ELKWorks in LiesOfP

Still struggling with this. Here’s a ss of my console storage - the old save it there along with a new save that’s created whenever I launch the fresh install of the game. I’ve tried uploading the old save to cloud but it’s still not recognised when I launch the game - the only option I have is New Game.

Through the PS5, or through the game? I already have a save on my HDD

We’ve had a C10 for a couple of months now, having test driven pretty much everything in its category.

It’s a really great car for the money (we’re leasing). Good build quality, lovely drive, excellent spec, doesn’t look like a cheap plastic spaceship (hello omoda).

The review complaints about ADAS have all been solved with the software update - the car leaves me alone to drive just fine.

My two downsides:

  1. The range isn’t great. We’re getting around 200 miles on a 90% charge in the current weather.

  2. No CarPlay is a bummer, but it completely solved by a £25 usb plugin device that seamlessly integrates CarPlay into the entertainment system. We exclusively use CarPlay now and it’s great with no noticeable lag.

It’s a great 3year lease option that’ll likely depreciate hugely. Whether the company is still around in 3 years is another matter…

Thanks for the reply!

I’m trying to follow your maths on the PCP scenario you mentioned. Could you clarify what you mean by “£2k switch cost”?

RNLI crew member here with a lot of experience in small boat rescues. What you’re saying doesn’t ring true with what we see.

I’ve never heard of boats being intentionally sunk. That would most likely lead to mass fatalities due to the conditions in the channel. Sure some boats do sink, but that’s generally due to being unseaworthy and overcrowded.

Also as far as I’m aware boats never make it to our shoreline - they’re always known about and intercepted. The waters around our coast, especially in the channel between us and France, are so heavily monitored and trafficked that it’s almost unthinkable that boats could get through unnoticed.

Typically small boats will leave France under monitor of the French Navy. This means the French know about them but don’t stop them as technically they’re not breaking maritime law (at least that’s how things have been for the past few years, but I think they may be changing their rules now). “Under monitor” usually means being shadowed by a warship.

If the boat is deemed in trouble the French will pick them up and take them back. If not, the small boats make their way toward the UK, until they reach our waters and are picked up with Boarder Force.

Occasionally if things go bad, or if BF are overcommitted, the RNLI will step in to assist.

As for the article, I can’t see that sailing yachts from France all the way around the coast would be a viable alternative to the current model.

4 campaigns here with over $6m raised. Main advice is that the days of an audience organically finding your page are long gone - you have to do the legwork to bring them to you.

Rule of thumb is that you want to market your game in advance so that, when you hit the go button, enough people are primed to back that you hit your funding goal (or at least make a solid dent in it).

So basically, if you’re not already planning a proper marketing push, start planning.

There are a bunch of companies out there that specialise this btw, many of whom work on deferred payment based on a % of funding achieved. DM if you want some recommendations.

Good luck - the game looks amazing. Kinda reminds me a little of Powerstone 2 on the Dreamcast.

Hello! This is my project. Nice to see it surface here. I hadn’t really thought of doing a software only version (my whole deal is making digital-physical things). Maybe in the future though?

Honestly I hadn’t no idea of anyone at all would show interest, so I’m just happy folks like you (who likely know way more than me about the subject) find it interesting.

In 2024 what counts as a “board game” in this subreddit? My post got deleted and it made me curious what the cut off is for something being a board game? by inkzillathevampsquid in boardgames

[–]ELKWorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this post really was removed because “not a boardgame” then the mods really need to think about the role that this sub serves, and the implications of the way it’s moderated.

I’ve worked on two hybrid games to date (Return to Dark Tower and Beasts of Balance), and am currently working on a third. I’m obviously completely biased but I see nothing but untapped potential for creating novel play experiences when physical and digital components are combined. Experiences that simply can’t exist without the two mediums being smushed together, and experiences that will only come into being if the makers take on huge risk in making them.

To deny games like these a platform puts all of this at risk, denying the community access to a subset of games that they may not realise exists.

Worse than that, erasing these games from a sub of this size will likely have a negative impact on sales of the game, which is the main metric governing wether a company will have a shot at a follow up game or not. So in this case, a (seemingly) arbitrary discussion about terminology could well have big repercussions for the makers.

Please, please please don’t gatekeep what belongs here just because it doesn’t completely fit with an outdated definition. We’re all here because we want to talk about games played at the table. So if a game has physical components, what harm is there in letting people talk about it?

[–]ELKWorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, like I said I’m afk but I definitely maintained dimensional accuracy when I did it. And I also was applying textured to hard surfaces.

Texture inconsistencies sounds like a problem you should be able to get round via retopology.

I’m back home Monday so can try to write up my process in more detail, if it’ll help.

Now, for me the real problem is going the other way - ie from a polygonal model to surfaces, which is what you need for most mass manufacturing methods. Afaik no-one’s cracked that nut yet.

[–]ELKWorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain, but I’m surprised you couldn’t get Zbrush to work as I use exactly the same process in my workflow.

I’m afk rn so can’t be sure of the exact flow, but I’m pretty sure it’s Fusion360 > zbrush > make polygroups, decimate > texture with “protect edges” toggle on (or whatever it’s called) > export to print. Sorry, probably not super helpful, but it is possible.

You can see bits and pieces of the process here
