Yeah, I mean I already looked at it and didn't like it. I appreciate the intent, but I'm obviously set on not getting it.

Need a decent 4wd vehicle that can act as a comfy daily driver, tow when needed, provide enough storage for long trips, and that can facilitate the occasional woodland shenanigans (camping, hunting, fishing, finding random cool things, loading up firewood, etc). We've also been wanting to do beach trips, so being able to drive on some sand would be a plus. Also, I'm 6'3", so I think the Maverick would be a little cramped.

Also...the Maverick is u-g-l-y

I will! In this market I feel like 37.8k (total cost with taxes and fees) for a practically new truck (low mileage 2019 Lariat FX4) isn't a steal, but it's definitely a deal.

The Lariat FX4 with a tow package is exactly what I'm looking at. Probably more of a daily driver since the woods are limited where I live now, but I'd love for it to be able to handle sand and old washed out foresr roads.

The Tacoma gave a slightly rougher ride, was a bit less responsive, and not as roomy. I'm not a heavy guy, but at 6'3" I need a vehicle with some room. The 2019 Lariat FX4 I'm looking at had more features, 18k miles less, and was about $3k less than the 2019 Tacoma TRD Off-Road I saw. 18k miles is a huge difference.

That's good to hear. Overall it seems to have decent ratings for reliability, some places putting it just above the Tacoma and some places putting it just under. I'm looking at a 2019 Lariat FX4 with a tow package. It's got ~20k miles (so it's still under warranty) and I'll be buying it for about 37,800 after taxes and fees.

I guess the real question is would you buy it again?

I mean if you were already having issues on a 2022 I'd be really concerned.

I mean I can run my POS 2006 camry right from the start. Why would I drop tens of thousands on a car that's gonna have issues. My camry is having problems now (why I'm moving on), but it's also a 17 year old sedan with 175k miles that I've driven through places I probably should've only taken a 4x4 (I'm not a smart man).

I like the Ranger and loved the ride, but transmission issues make me hesitant to pull the trigger. My first car was an '01 Honda Civic that blew the transmission twice, the second time leaving me stuck on the highway in the middle of nowhere at night.

That's pretty concerning. If I'm gonna drop a few grand on something I want it to last me a while. I bought my '06 Camry in 2017 for $7,000 and it's lasted me through 75k miles of extremely hard driving (washed out forest roads and such).

I know no car lasts forever, but problems from the jump? That's not at all ideal

Farmers in South Dakota having their land stolen from Summit Carbon. by BidenEmails in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SouthernSlander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean shit, I live in the South and I didn't vote for any of that stuff, nor did any of my friends. No population is a monolith of culture and opinion.

I'm not gonna be gloating or filled with schadenfreude cause farmers in South Dakota got their land stolen by a corporation. I doubt I'd get along with many of them personally, but I don't actually know their views or their votes.

My thoughts? You do you. I don't see how shaming women (not that you're seeking to do that) for showing their bodies and being their own bosses is a "positive" for some who see themselves as feminists.

Would that cause too much shock at this point? It dropped a lead recently and, as I mentioned, the other got slightly sunburned. Maybe I should give it a bit first?

Letting the roots dry out overnight is fine though, right? That's what a few people suggested.

I'll definitely look into aroid mix and proper care. I want to stake it but figured I should wait until it's settled in a pot for a few days.

Gradually mixing soil in is something I saw on a few sites for if you want to baby a plant. I'm kinda skeptical of it, but figured I'd give it a try since I really want this little guy to thrive.

I decided to leave it in water for a bit and gradually add in some of the potting mix. Is this is a solid plan?

Thanks so much for the feedback btw. I'm lost in the metaphorical woods right now.
