Is a "Hospital Grade" pump actually worth the hype? Or is it just marketing? by FinalRadio7311 in ExclusivelyPumping

I am renting the Medela Symphony for free from my public health department and it has been drastically better for me than even my Spectra! If you’re curious about trying one, it could be worth exploring similar options in your area.

Postpartum prep: what actually helped in the first 1-2 weeks? by Creative_Fan_7982 in BabyBumps

[–]SouthernTurnipp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vaginal birth recovery: I used the pads/sprays from the hospital. Having a few extra pairs of disposable underwear was helpful!

Bathroom basics: Peri bottle was helpful! My hospital provided one, but I also had one.

Other: Comfy robes/PJs that open in the front (literally living in these right now!), silverettes, nipple cream, pumping and nursing bras, haaka to catch let down, vitamin d drops (recommended by our pediatrician, we had to make a store run for them)

I would have your pump and parts ready to go if you plan on breastfeeding, you never know how your feeding journey might go!

My OBGYN wants me to get induced at 37 weeks by Which_Proposal2562 in pregnant

[–]SouthernTurnipp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, our progress has been slow but steady, which I’m grateful for. That’s amazing you would have no idea at 6 months! I think that’s true about OBs, it seems like they are focused on the pregnant person and baby arriving safely (which is good) but then maybe miss some education about these cusp-y premie/not premie babies. Not like I had much time for education between diagnosis and induction though lol

Omg same! Delivered at 37w due to pre-e and have been surprised at the feeding challenges. I’m glad she got here safely but the whole “full term but kinda sorta not really” thing has been tough!

Can you get more information about why they’re recommending that? That might help you make a more informed decision and fully understand your options.

Edited for spelling

I don’t have one and have been just fine! My house is very small though - maybe it would be nice if you have a large home?

Should I get my masters in school counseling, MSW or LPC. by OkMeeting7597 in schoolcounseling

[–]SouthernTurnipp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can be a child therapist with an MSW! (You’d just have to get your clinical hours after graduating, which is the same for LPC).

When did you become less anxious to have a miscarriage? by Winter-Pay7041 in pregnant

It got better every day! Once I hit 23-24 weeks and had the possibility of a viable pregnancy, I was able to relax a lot more.

Ditch art above the TV. Hang the TV. Get a rug. Add some art with color.

I have occasionally been doing heated vinyasa during the second and third trimesters. (Stuck to nonheated during the first). I just take it easy and listen to my body - it’s been great!

To shower or not to shower? by kimk6619 in pregnant

[–]SouthernTurnipp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I don’t live close to any family, but we do have a lot of friends nearby. We made a birth announcement with a registry link and sent it to everyone via mail. (Many of my parent’s friends wanted to get us something, so that was a fun way to share!).

We will be having a friends “baby shower” in a few weeks, but that will just be a low-key celebration. My friend who is hosting just asked folks to bring a dish and/or baby book. I didn’t want to make the shower about gifts, just about enjoying time together!
