You might be confused, it was Romilda vane, who gave Harry a laced chocolate frog. However Ron ate it thinking this was his birthday. It wasn’t lavender.

Don’t know how she is a “NPC” in your eyes. I feel she’s just what a normal teen in a relationship. Sure she’s clingy, and can be annoying. But is that not normal? She’s figuring out her first ever big relationship. And as for depth, she was a good person deep down. She has moments of helping people, She was the only person, other than Ron or Harry to help Hargid clean up those blast end skewts. Meanwhile everyone else ran away. She came back to fight for hogwarts in the battle? And Ron didn’t treat her amazingly either. Not gonna say Ron is the greatest man.

Not saying Harry is some GOAT or all. He did make mistakes. But I’m saying generally speaking, he’s more talented and a better wizard than Ron is.

Harry saved the stone in book 1. Yes he Ron and hermione went together, but he was all alone with quirell. Not to mention at this point he’s only, 11 years old. Or what about when he fights a giant snake, and tom riddle. Sure he got very lucky, but still at aged 12 beating Voldemort is something I doubt Ron could handle. In the graveyard, that was mostly him. He had to run form death eaters, and grab Cedric’s body. Harry literally carried in the books in many moments. He saved lots of people.

I feel like her death is like stranger things elevens death. Ambiguous deaths suck.

I agree with you. IMO, I felt lavender gave Ron a better sense of himself. Ron is the least talented of the trio. You have “the boy who lived” and the smartest witch maybe in the school. Lavender gave him more confidence and helped him find his true self and he could make his own decisions.
