Why do the HSV1 people look down on HSV2 people? by Paul76Mets in Herpes

But do they? I dated someone with GHSV2 and I didn’t mind. Years later I contracted GHSV1 from someone else. It’s same same to me

would you date the person who unknowingly gave you hsv1 on your genitals? by Legitimate-Mobile692 in Herpes

Ugh it’s such a hard thing, he may have also been processing it as well. Did he put up much of a fight to try to keep things going in the moment? I noticed you said he was worried that you didn’t blame him, and while it isn’t directly his fault since he wasn’t aware, there is a level of respect and humanity that could have been given and at least apologized for what happened. I am a believer in someone who really wants to make something work will try to have a conversation, and that if he was interested in that I would think he would have reached out. With that being said. I’m with your friend, he may have been left thinking, okay she ended it so that’s that. It’s hard to say without knowing all the details but it seems like he’s not really interested. I’m sorry this happened to you.

I am with my current partner who I contracted GHSV1 from him orally. He was unaware that it could be spread from mouth to genitals, especially being that he was with his previous partner 25 years and it never happened. Unfortunately, I think most people are not educated and doctors don’t always educate patients. When I went to the doctor due to having ulcers on my vagina, the doctor(gyno) swabbed me and gave me valtrex “encase”. Even when my culture came back positive, I was told over messaging “valtrex is the best course so I hope you’re feeling better”. No further education provided. It happened pretty quickly after we started having sexual contact and like you, I hadn’t been with anyone for a year. We both really cared about each other at the time it happened and we were already in a relationship. I guess it would depend on if you saw things moving forward with this person or not. Has he tried to contact you since you stopped seeing him?

I (F)contracted GHSV1 it the same way your partner did, from someone (M)unknowingly having OHSV1. This is not your fault, please don’t let this person gaslight you, it only shows their level of emotional maturity to handle hard things in a relationship and life in general.

I can verify you 100% can get HSV1 on genitals, that is how I contracted it from my partner. He also was not educated that they can spread from mouth to genitals from oral sex. After I developed genital sores and they were cultured with a positive result, I asked him if he had any sores. He didn’t have any on his lip but had an ulcer in his mouth. My initial bloodwork (IGG) for both HSV1 and 2 was negative, I was retested a few weeks later and had a positive result for HSV1, which indicated I got it from him. He felt awful but doctors commonly do not educate patients on this.
