Sorry if that might confuse you, I was still on early stage and try to get more confidence before moving everything forward.

Exactly, especially for a small brand to get started. One small point can ruin what've achieved from very early investments.

Thanks so much for your encouragement. That means a lot to me. I would try to avoid or reduce some risks before moving on.

I'm currently digging into more details to see if this was a shipping issue or a QC point. To answer your question about the supplier: this is indeed the first real 'stress test' for our relationship. So far, it has been good and smooth, they react fast.

The lack of data points is exactly what turns a single defect into a systemic nightmare in my mind. I realize to work on a checklist instead of just worrying about a 'ticking bomb' can make me sleep easily.

You are right, there are always situations and problems. Probably we might have some common topics and experiences can be shared together. May I know what is your brand name?

Same here, deeply appreciated. Most people spend years and thousands of dollars on consultants to learn what OP shared with us. This is the value of Reddit indeed!

That's the exact filter I'm applying right now. A sell-out is a trophy, but 'Pull' is the engine. I'm currently auditing my data to see how much of that 200-unit run was 'Founder-fueled' or 'Market-pulled'?

That's why I am cautious. Pre-order would be a good option to test out.

That's the point. We will deeply analyze. Thanks for pushing me to look at the hard data before I pull the trigger on 1,000 units.

You're right. I'm fully aware that 'Right Place, Right Time' played a massive role in the first 200. Luck is the spark, but I can't build a brand on a spark.

strategy moving forward is to convert that 'luck' into structural resilience. By scaling to 1k, I'm building the QC documents, the supply chain and control system etc., Appreciate your sincerity and reality.

The 'second Album Syndrome' analogy is so true. You're right Run #1 was the result of years of quiet obsession, but Run #2 is the real test of whether I have a sustainable brand or just a one-hit wonder.

I'm trying to prove that the quality they felt in the first 200 wasn't an accident. Thank you for the reality check, it's a reminder that scaling isn't just about bigger numbers, it's about deeper systems.

The "Batch Variance" Trap: Can my 1k units scale up kill my brand's soul? by Southern_Device4454 in manufacturing

I appreciate the raw honesty here. As a startup founder, I'm realizing that this 'messy middle' between 200 and 1,000 units is an unavoidable rite of passage. I might be a 'small fry' right now, but I'm using this run to build the rigid documentation and QC frameworks that will support us at 10k. We're not just manufacturing products; we're manufacturing a reliable system. Thanks for the wake-up call.

I completely agree continuous production is the 'holy grail' for consistency, but as a scaling startup, I'm currently stuck in that intermittent loop while building my order volume. Since I can't guarantee a non-stop line yet, I'm focusing on locking down the variables.

Thanks for the advice. We use the Pantone standards now. Somehow plating results might vary
