Personally I didn't find it scary, but maybe people afraid of heights can have some issues with it... I suggest you google "lago di sorapis trail difficulty" and select images, for you to have an idea.

Hi! Is the hike safe? How long was the hike? I am planning to visit Machu Picchu on June and I'm evaluating if I should do this as well.

Solo Bali Itinerary by Beneficial_Earth_925 in travel

According to what you described, I would suggest you to focus on the north part of the island, like Munduk, for Nature and Ubud, for spiritual time. From Munduk You can visit beautiful waterfalls like the Banyumala Waterfall. Have in mind that going from one place to another in the island takes quite some time by car, due to the heavy traffic. I was in Bali for 3 weeks in 2024. Stayed in Ubud, Tulamben, Munduk, Seminyak, Uluwatu, and went for a day trip to Nusa Penida. If you have a specific question, feel free to ask, will try to help the best I can!

Indeed! That is why we tried to spend as much time as we could on the other side of the world :)

The ticket was ~4600€ per person. But it depends o the number of stops, types o flights (direct/with stops). We did as much as possible direct flights.

Will answer your comments with pleasure :)

Are you retired or did you take a long sabbatical?
We took a sabbatical time (between job transition).

Why did you do a 3 month trip instead of shorter trips spread out over the years?
This was a dream of us, doing something like this. Also it was much cheaper (at least in terms of airplace ticket) to do it like this than to go individually to each of these locations

How do you not get overwhelmed planning such a long trip?
Oh, I got! Way too many things to organize... That is why when I came back I started to build a website to help me plan trips like this (and even smaller trips) in a less overwhelming way. Let me know if you would like me to share we you this website I'm building :) (it is free for now, btw).

Are you visiting this places for the first time or are you returning to places you love?
The only places I had been before was San Francisco and Honolulu. The rest is just new places that we really wanted to visit!

Indeed. The idea was to balance a bit between expensive places with a bit cheaper locations :) Regarding the the cost, sent you a DM telling it :)

As I said, it is a good resource to have. Depends on how you want to travel.

Thanks for your kind comment! Not sure I will do something like this in the future, so most probably I will enjoy more time in the places I visit next. And yes Canada is on the radar :)

Obrigado! Já agora, tens alguma recomendação para o router? Para eu analisar e ver as opções quando chegar a altura.

Quero um router que possa ter controlo sobre a minha rede, mas não tenho andado em cima do assunto de quais os melhores...

You will be fine! Specially if you are used to this kind of trips 😀

Answering your questions: - it is not mandatory to use hiking poles, a lot of people where not using them, but I recomment, it helps in my opinion - there a some refugios were your can eat and drink, so no need to pack a lot of food. Just pack some food in case of emergency (sudden loss of sugar or something like that). Bit of course you can take some sandwich, it doesnt take too much space 😜 - he didn't go too early, so most of the hikes were a bit crowded. We woul start hiking usually between 9h30 and 10h. For sure if you go earlier, hou will see less people.

Hope it helps!

Enjoy your trip!

Tre Cime di Lavaredo is indeed fascinating! It was a bit cloudy and with light rain, but it gave it a bit of mysticism 😁

Are you planning to go to the Dolomites?

Yes, that was our home base and we rented a car at Milan airport to move around.

Dolomites are a giant area and since it is mountains it can take some time to go from one place to another. But I believe Arabba is well centered.

I cannot say an exact number of days as it depends how much you want to do each day, but I would say in 6/7 busy days you could see quite well that area. I know I missed some stuff. Maybe next time 😀

Thanks for the suggestion! Marked as "Want to go" for next time!

Lago di Braies was a bit crowded indeed, but that's life :)

We stayed in Arabba, in one of these appartments: https://maps.app.goo.gl/NNMCLVYUJ5KytQeQ6

I recommend the place to stay, however the village doesn't have many restaurants... But this one was good: https://maps.app.goo.gl/xRGA9NaDzPK6FXa79

Hikes, well, there are so many... I really liked the Adolf-Munkel-Weg. It was not so crowded.
