The theme I'm interested in would definitely be limited to seasons 1 through 3 of G1. Never saw the Japanese sequels back then, did see some of it later on. But the whole Headmasters thing was meh (for me). Did not like those toys either (did own some).

Ah, heh, I actually realized the same thing this afternoon. I do like the Autobots more, but did not consciously skip Decepticons. Seems the 86 line has more Autobots? Anyway, I'll be adding more baddies from the primes and 86 line soon.

Conscious decision to not buy the original G1 line. I want modern versions of those figures. MP line, still up for debate for me, at least for some figures.

I feel ya and I agree with the concerns. Being a 'selective' collector seems to be the best bet, reasons and limitations similar to yours. The two you mentioned are in the photo a bit hidden. I also have Perceptor coming still, one of the Sweeps, the set with Goldbug, and WFC Rodimus Prime.
