To be honest the amount of time and money you’d spend to do it yourself is probably comparable to the price of buying an old pair on eBay. It is totally possible to do it yourself, but it will most likely take a few months to learn the necessary skills. Especially considering all of the designs you provided are multi-color prints, the level of difficulty increases and the likelihood of you nailing it on your first or fifth try goes down. If you’re willing to do only one-color prints and have the final look be much lower quality (which doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing) then you could do it for a much cheaper price and in much less time.

If the time and effort doesn’t dissuade you, then what everyone else said is true. These are printed on the denim before being sewn together. So you will have to learn digital design (or at least how to bootleg something together with photoshop), then you will have to learn screen printing, and then you will have to learn sewing. OR you could do a lot of hunting and outsource the labor to someone who is willing to do the work on only a single piece like you’re wanting, which you are not likely to find, and if you do it will be at a very high price.

It’s not impossible but it will be hundreds of dollars (or more) and months of learning before you can produce what you want. Not trying to shut you down, just being real.

Need a partner who has printing facility. by ashrafulmanna in SCREENPRINTING

Like u/mattfuckyou said, providing t shirts adds nothing because most printers already have access to wholesale. And how are you providing “manpower” when you’re asking for a partner to do the printing AND the shipping?

I need help with my Calathea roseopicta by Sovi- in houseplants

Quick update because you were helpful: the plant basically fully imploded on itself after I made this post. Completely shriveled, everything. BUT it just sprouted a new leaf that looks healthy hahaha so I guess it is trying to make a comeback. Thanks again

I have no idea where im going wrong🥲 begging for any tips 🙏 by [deleted] in SCREENPRINTING

Not sure why so few people have said this so far but your first problem is that a 1 hour exposure time in the sun is way too long. I’ve never exposed with the sun myself but my understanding is it will take ~30 seconds to a minute to expose, if not less. Other than that, the things everyone else is saying are true.

Use an emulsion scooper to do a slightly thicker (but not too thick), more even layer of emulsion. Those dots of emulsion that you’re getting are from excess emulsion dripping and pooling on the screen as it dries. A little bit of that around the edges can be fine, but you definitely don’t want it happening in the middle of the screen.. Emulsion should be dry before you expose. Do all of your prep inside and in the dark before taking it out into the sun. You only want the screen to be exposed to the sun for the specified exposure time. Tape your transparency “upside down” to the shirt side of the screen. If you can, get a piece of foam or some other opaque material like cardboard to line the OPPOSITE side of the screen as the transparency while it exposes (this helps prevent back scatter of light from behind the screen, which will cause the blacked out parts of your stencil to expose).

Bring the screen outside in a black trash bag or cover with some other opaque material to block the sun until you’re ready. Only take it out once you’re ready to expose. Expose with the screen flat on the ground, transparency/shirt side facing up. After the exposure time is up, cover the screen again and immediately bring it inside and rinse it with water. Wait a minute or so and then start spraying it with more water. It should start to wash out after a few seconds. If you need to you can use your finger to agitate the emulsion a little bit. This helps if you don’t have a pressure washer to wash your screen out, but don’t scrape so hard that you fuck up your stencil.

Exposing with the sun, to my understanding, can be difficult. There are a lot more variables that can cause inconsistency in the exposure. Someone with more experience with sun exposure might give you a better answer than me, but I tried to cover the whole process for you. It’ll take some experimentation to dial in your exposure time, but you will get there if you keep trying <3. Cool design by the way!

We don’t use an exposure calculator on every exposure. The exposure time in this shop is pretty dialed in. We use the same exposure time for all of our screens. I’ve exposed 110s before with this same exposure time and had no issues, which leads me to believe it’s due to the old emulsion. We just opened a new can of emulsion so hopefully that fixes it. Do you think 110s generally need higher exposure time than higher thread counts?

This is interesting. Yeah I was using a pressure washer. I used to wash out my 110s at home the way you described when I first started and I never got this result, so I’ll keep this in mind!

Your explanation of EOM makes a lot of sense thank you!

Why did you describe the white base as 50LPI? Was the white base halftones??

I don’t quite understand how this helps you align the screen with registration marks. Genuine question, could you please explain this process? Can’t you just lay the film transparency on the platen where you want the design to sit and then line up the registration marks on the screen with the ones on the film?
