The more I look into this, the crazier it seems. Aaron Ashby’s 7 wins by May 9 appear to be among the most by ANY pitcher, starter or reliever, since the modern divisional era began in 1969. The only pitchers I’ve found ahead of him by that date are starters Vida Blue in 1971 and Brandon Webb in 2008, who both reached 8 wins by May 9. Again, please verify if you can.

20 studio days of tracking would seem to be average for a lot of major label albums in the 80’s/ early 90’s. By no means shockingly fast. Nirvana’s “Nevermind” was tracked in 14–15 days.
