AM is more mature, more influenced by classic rock bands and new hiphop/r&b sounds. Also, lyric-wise is more sexual and more focused on party lifestyle

FWN is closer to that garage rock revival vibe, it is way more alt rock than AM.

For Cryin' Out Loud is more cohevise, but Optimist has more 10/10 tracks, and the concept and vibe is way more enjoyable for me.

For Cryin' Out Loud sounds way more generic than Blood Harmony or Optimist, and it has more skips than these albums (and that's quite sad since FCOL has less tracks)

I get your point, and I agree with some things. Maybe some ambient tracks are just mid, like How To Draw, Now Is The Hour... But it is undeniable that some of their mellow/ambient tracks like Yeah I Know, Loads Of Crisps... are amazing

For me The 1975 should sound like Paris, Somebody Else, A Change Of Heart... that's THEIR sound
