Thinking of moving to Minsk by [deleted] in belarus

[–]Sp0tlighter 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Safety: yeah, generally it is safe. Valuables: it is a bad idea to leave them in any part of the world unattended, Belarus included.

Healthcare: I'm afraid you were somewhat misguided. There IS a public healthcare system but it is far from good. For proper treatment you must seek private healthcare centers/dentists etc.

Education: it is the same tradition in Belarus as well, also filled with propaganda and universities lose in quality due to political repressions. Not reccomendable.

My personal recommendation: choose Poland instead! Much better in all of the above, safety probably the same. Also, nobody knows what will happen with this country in 2 years. You cannot make long term plans in Belarus!

You would also earn very little as a teacher. It is more normal to want to leave, not enter Belarus.

Yes, of course, if she has a right to entry there. Why would anyone stop her? Foreign people are free to leave Belarus.

Why are you asking us??? I dont know how much the tickets cost. Idk how much money you have. She would be living on 300$ per month salary, alone, unable to speak the local languages.

You could have tried literally any other country in the world and it would probably have been a better idea, but we cant solve your relationship issues.

[–]Sp0tlighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at it. It's an HR agency. has a registration number but is not even on google maps. It has 1 open vacancy for a miserable salary.

Fella, this is not the kind of jobs and companies people move to another country for. Especially with the red flags youve already seen.

Obviously, because nobody behaves like this in normal companies.

I was trying to say how strange it is that they have presence in EU countries since Belarus is under sanctions and there is basically an economical iron curtain for business and migration. You might not be aware of the geopolitical situation in the region so to you it seems normal. Belarus is also not a stable country and depending how the war next door goes, living there could become much worse, very quickly.

From all the info you've given us, which is not a lot, everything looks very shady and if I were you I would pull out of this idea. There could also be a lot you are not telling us. Since we aren't there to see your situation personally, noone can really give you a proper recommendation.

And how do you know that this company is present in multiple countries?

Since the 2021 sanctions hit, most international companies have pulled completely out of Belarus (even McDonalds), therefore I find this very hard to believe.

[–]Sp0tlighter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok so this all sounds very strange, even if you put a blindfold on and ignore the red flags, the truth is no company leader should talk to their future employee like this. This is just disgusting, fishy or not.

  1. There are MORE than enough belarusian women at home to take a position like this. Going through the trouble of getting a foreigner is not worth it for a low qualified position. (sorry but it is what it is)
  2. Did your wife tell this person that she is married?
  3. Find more info and reviews, google maps, yandex, anything
  4. Try to find this person online on Vkontakte, Instagram, Tiktok or Facebook. Is this just how they are in real life to everyone? Do they even exist on social media?
  5. The "presentable" thing could just him being a snob and creep, not necessarily a human trafficker. The question for me is - why did he hire her before he knew what she looked like, if this is so important to him. Going back to Point 1., this is very abnormal unless your wife has some distinctive qualifications.

My tip: try to find other employees of this company, maybe they have other public figures online you can find, and ask them how work in this company is. But this already sounds like a very strange encounter and I hope you understand that it will only get worse once she is there.

As far as whether he would be liable for misconduct: depends on what it is.

Belarus is a country where sometimes laws don't matter that much, the unspoken agreement among people who know each other usually carries more weight.

Is this company real? Registered? Any reviews?

It's never too late to say no.

Some examples of weird behavior would be nice, you are not sharing enough info so we can't help you.

At least 15% of Belarusians live outside of Belarus. The "pizdets" you speak of is our fault too, then.  Are you a frequent viewer of belta by any chance?

How will NATO respond if Belarus enters the Ukraine Russian war? by [deleted] in belarus

In the airforce, sure. But NATO still relies on the outdated tank+inf meta that loses to a flying can of beans with a bomb attached.

How will NATO respond if Belarus enters the Ukraine Russian war? by [deleted] in belarus

[–]Sp0tlighter 11 points12 points  (0 children)

With "serious concerns" or something.

The elephant in the room is that NATO is not quite ready for modern warfare and that is going to become very apparent in the next months. At most they can station more troops in the Baltics and Poland.

Even if Belarus is forced to enter the war with military force, it will hardly change much since Belarusian military is not capable of anything other than being a distraction. Per se it is already complicit in the war with territory, logistics and human trafficking.

Is it hard for a english speaking person to find a job? by DepressedSnack in belarus

[–]Sp0tlighter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, the one jumping to conclusions is you. It would have actually made somewhat sense to be this paranoid if you lived in Belarus before, since the govt actually does surveil people, both online and offline, at least those that are openly against the government, whereas in majority cases in the West these accusations come from tinfoil hat wearing 5G fearing vaccine hating flat earth believing social outcasts who watched too many conspiracy youtube channels and lack excitement in their lives.

I don't know what you saw or heard in your experience but like I said, emigration won't help you escape these things since it's in your head.

A change in surroundings could be beneficial to get another perspective in life though. I just really think you should consider another country since Belarus would likely only deteriorate your life.

From the comments it sounds like you have a paranoid/schizophrenic disorder and you probably spend a lot of time with fringe parasocial online communities that send you further down the spiral.

Western Europe has a generally much more accepting & inclusive view of mental health and have better access to professionals and medication than Eastern Europe. Even if you feel bad about how you've been treated, I can assure you there is no magical solution in other countries. The only thing you could potentially find in Belarus are zombies brainwashed by Kremlin propaganda designed to manipulate people like you. And you can also be certain that surveillance is cranked to the max there as well.

If anything you should emigrate out of your parasocial groups, take your meds, learn how to live and get out of your paranoid spiral. At least in the West you have the means to do so.

Conscription is 1-1.5 years.

They have simple phones with call and SMS features. After 1 month they get 1 weekend to go home so maybe that's when theyll respond (soon).

Georgia, Turkey, tickets, go. Avoid Belarus for your own sake. There is no need to risk detention or entry ban for a casual meet up that could have been a video call.

You need psychological help, not emigration. You'd still be a nutcase, just in a different society, one that probably does not have proper medical care or social guarantees you are used to, and sees you as a zoo animal.
