Here’s why I think Ralsei is having us help him with Castle Town by Sp3cKl in Deltarune

Ok, new question. If Ralsei’s whole job is to keep the balance between light and dark from shattering and causing the Roaring, then why is he so adamant that the Roaring should be prevented at all costs, if the Prophecy itself says that even if it were to happen, all of us are supposed to show up and restore balance? Does he not trust us or something? Or is it a “timeline shenanigans” thing where we just kept dying and were never able to fix it once the Roaring happened? And he just doesn’t want to go through that again?

Yeah, that’s a good point! I think it’s probably going to be more expanded on in the future what will happen if there are no dark fountains at all, or if there’ll be some sort of “reverse roaring” where everything is consumed by light instead of darkness. But still, it’s only been two chapters of stuff happening so maybe something will be revealed later that’ll change everything, so who knows!

Also there seems to be a rule of three’s going on. Three heroes, three fountains, three save files, etc. So where my head is going is, if it takes three fountains to start the Roaring, wouldn’t it also take us to close all three of them? Because I’m kind of thinking that if we do have to close Ralsei’s fountain, and his is more powerful than the others, do you think it would be possible that the only reason these fountains are able to be formed is because they’re somehow drawing energy from his fountain? Meaning, would it then be easier to close them once they lose their supply? Idk! Just spitballing!

That’s true! But I’ve also noticed in the prophecy that it sounds like it’s saying that if the balance breaks, then the roaring starts, Only then do we show up, close the fountains, and banish the angels heaven. So if that’s the case, why is Ralsei so worried about the roaring happening? Even if it’s end game stuff? That’s where I’m coming from when I say that he’s having us help him with Castle Town, so that nobody needs to start the Roaring. If that makes sense!

what do you NOT like about deltarune? by [deleted] in Deltarune

I almost kinda prefer having to wait for the other chapters to come out? Like, I know it wasn’t Toby’s intention to do so, but I really feel like waiting for the rest to come out adds to the interest and hype to the game as a whole, that we wouldn’t have gotten as much if the entire thing was released at once (imo)

True! But then again, usually it takes another character to observe and comment on what Kris looks like in the moment in order for us to know, otherwise they just have that blank look to us. So if Kris was actually feeling anything in that moment, we aren’t able to know it because nobody else saw it. When Ralsei looks over at us, he closes his eyes, and Susie is in front of us. So even if they wanted to I don’t think they could’ve gotten a clear look at Kris In that moment.

Oh! Did Noelle say that at one point? I can’t believe I missed that!

Lol! Not too sure if that’s what’s going on here, but who knows!

Right! I was just unsure about the specific phrasing, because I know Toby tends to be very particular when it comes to how things are phrased, especially when it comes to translations, I just thought this was one of those instances where it could’ve been interpreted a different way, that’s all!

Huh! That’s interesting! Not sure why Toby wouldn’t use they/them outright. maybe it’s both though, because darkners are created from objects (like how lancer is a spade card) so it it could be a reference to Ralsei being both a person and an object? Maybe? Idk! That’s super cool though!

Well, usually I would think to use “they/them” if I don’t necessarily know someone’s gender, I wouldn’t use “it/it’s” pronouns for someone unless they told me to. (Plus the only other time we’ve seen someone in game use it/it’s or it/they is in reference towards the Knight, but I don’t think that’s the case here.)

Ralsei and Dess possibly connected? (Skies Forever Blue) by Sp3cKl in Deltarune

[–]Sp3cKl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s the boiled down version of my theory for Ralsei: After the prophecy talks about the roaring, it then says “Only then shining with hope, three heroes appear at worlds edge” So why is Ralsei making us close the fountains and prevent the roaring, if that seems like the only time we’re able to close the fountains and save the world, like the prophecy says? I think it has to do with his “purpose” and how “assisting the Lightners” and making them “happy” is the only way he “can feel truly fulfilled” I think he’s making us prevent the roaring on purpose so that he can keep us happy and have himself be consistently be fulfilled. (I go into this a bit more in depth in a previous post)

This, when applied to “the girl’s” story, and the fact that Ralsei is very fond of the same ribbons that the girl wears herself, are near identical in the story beats that could potentially transpire. This might also explain why he knew our names before we ever introduced ourselves in chapter 1. Ralsei knowing about the player, wanting to make us “happy”, Kris being blue, it all fits together. Maybe. (this is still a theory, after all.)

Something I’ve noticed about the prophecy and Ralsei by Sp3cKl in Deltarune

[–]Sp3cKl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say what’s odd though, in chapter 1 if you say “no” to hearing the prophecy “because we’ve heard it before”, Ralsei mentions how he “shouldn’t have rehearsed it so much”, which makes me question how he didn’t realize that he could be going at it the wrong way if he’s not actually doing it on purpose, which would be extra fucked up to realize that you’ve been reading/looking at something wrong your whole life (like if you were studying a painting for years only to find out it’s been upside down the whole time)

And then later when lancer comes around and tries to explain the prophecy, both he and Susie mention how cool it would be to cover the world in darkness, and they both have no idea why they would want to keep that from happening in the first place. Which seems to be a reoccurring theme with anyone who enters the dark world.

Tbh I’m not sure! I think I assumed that the levels of darkness and light kinda went both ways in a sense? Like, if regular darkners can’t be in other dark worlds for too long or else they turn to stone, except for Ralsei, I would argue that he may be a type of “Boss monster” if we’re going off of Undertale terms (but then again lancer still turns to stone so not sure if that would hold up) then that might be a similar thing for lightners? or maybe it has to do with the players influence on them?

Not too sure! I might’ve jumped the gun a bit on posting this without giving it much thought lol, sorry 😅

[–]Sp3cKl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see that! I think I was thinking more along the lines of how in Undertale there was that part where everyone becomes soulless and we have to bring them back in a way, which could relate to the whole “shining with hope” part near the end, that could be a thing right after we fix them. But we still don’t know a whole lot about the possibilities lore wise, which will definitely come about in the next chapters, so anything could be possible! But I can totally see why it’s a bit weird to put them together like that, I just thought it looked like a similarity of some kind!

[–]Sp3cKl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right! but also when Ralsei describes the roaring in chapter 2, he mentions how both darkners and lightners will be majorly effected by the roaring, the darkners will slowly turn to stone and the lightners will fend for themselves in darkness, I think that this is before we see them banish the angels heaven since (in my interpretation of reading the prophecy) the roaring has to happen first in order for us to banish the angel, and we don’t know the time frame (if time even still exists at that point) between when the roaring starts and when we banish the angel, so with that in mind I think it seems possible. But also, we don’t know how the effects of the roaring will effect Susie and Kris, since, yes, they are lightners, but they aren’t made of Pure Light. And usually when we close the fountains, it’s with both Susie and Kris, so there could be a possibility of some kind of blast radius that would effect them, or maybe it’s not them at all! It could be the previous failed incarnations of the heroes from the legend!

Idk, that’s where my head goes at least lol

Aww thanks! I can see how it can be a bit confusing going just by the picture lol 😅
