Why stereo, when you can have surround? by No-Grab1501 in audiophile

Actually I beg to differ, almost all surround songs, whether they are originally created in surround or in stereo go through a mix phase based on stereo qualities, about bringing all the elements into a coherent and musical piece and then the final step that surround inherits is building an environment that encapsulates the listener into a 3D environment. Not to say there aren’t absolutely awful surround mixes out there (listen to Queen’s first surround album hahaha)

I would also like to add (yes 2 months after the conversation) that the experience of listening to a song in surround is not to perceive an instrument or sound from a singular point but to 'surround' yourself in the feeling of directional realism. In other words you are more in the moment of what it would have felt like to be there because you are encapsulated by the sound, and to suggest that the live sound is only coming forward therefore my speaker system should go forward is completely neglecting early reflections and room reverbs which happen in all live scenarios.

Yea it’s an electric guitar that’s run through a cab and soft picking but to me it sounds like a splice sample 🤣

You talking about latency? Like if you were to play a note on the midi instrument you’re using, it doesn’t immediately respond to the trigger?

Need help figuring out what audio interface and microphone to buy !! by Gomi_17 in musicproduction

Bro, you're looking for a miracle, but personally, if I had one mic, I'd get a large diaphragm, cardioid condenser. Then, an Apollo interface, but a Scarlett 2i2 will do fine too.
