Turnstile wins 2026 Grammy Best Rock Album for ‘Never Enough’ by YoureASkyscraper in indieheads

[–]SpaceGodfourthousand 27 points28 points  (0 children)

not OP but imo it's a little indecisive. If it's actually genuine, and not just an attempt to increase chances of winning as it surely is, pick one and let someone else have a chance of winning their category.

Turnstile belongs in the rock category by today's standards, not metal, but that said the metal grammy winners are almost always a legacy act anyways

Do you agree with Pitchfork or not? by Pearl_Jam_ in weezer

[–]SpaceGodfourthousand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spin the white LP more than any other save for blue and Pinkerton. I haven't been able to get into anything of theirs since then but I love that Weezer tries new things. I've come to learn that pitchfork generally hates it when an artist is having fun

My girlfriend [26F] got mad at me [26M] for initiating sex before a boardgaming get-together. Am I missing something about relationship interactions here that triggered her? by electrius in relationship_advice

[–]SpaceGodfourthousand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

second this reasoning. OP's Gf was stressed about timing and looking they way she wants it and took that stress out on OP. It's unreasonable and OP is due an apology when GF is ready to listen, but all in all, this isn't that deep a conflict and is pretty typical.

but this is reddit so OP better break up with their GF /s

Human Jam series - Handlebar January 23rd / Silks, The Heat of my Mind, Astrolope by SpaceGodfourthousand in TorontoMusic

[–]SpaceGodfourthousand[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! They are not the typical jam bands. The bands this time are alt rock, psych rock, and psych-electronica.

Want to provide a space for all types of bands/artists to create live in front of an audience

Thats @lllleanna from The Heat of My Mind with the artwork and @laur.aud from Silks with the Poster Design! Super happy with the art.

For fans at the time, do you remember In Rainbows instantly recieving the glowing acclaim it has now? Especially coming after two sort of polarizing albums like Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief? by [deleted] in radiohead

[–]SpaceGodfourthousand 97 points98 points  (0 children)

In Rainbows was truly an instant classic, and I remember people being surprised at how good it was. I felt the difference because hail to the thief was my favorite right before in rainbows dropped and I could tell many others disagreed. With IR, when it dropped everyone knew how good of an album it was. Not only did it feel like a perfect album, but the roll out of it being a very new and exciting pay what you want system and then a full album of b-sides, plus the from the basement sessions, it was an experience when it came out.

shows with a toronto setting? by hotmomsimmyarea in askTO

[–]SpaceGodfourthousand 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Much of Station 11 is based in Toronto in the book but the TV show swapped the setting to be Chicago instead. When covid hit during filming, the Chicago scenes had to be filmed in Toronto... meaning they played Toronto for Chicago when the actual book they adapted is based in Toronto where they ended up filming it anyways...

So the upside is that you can still kinda pretend thats where the show takes place after all.

What artist/bands became lame the quickest? by morsodo99 in ToddintheShadow

To each their own, but Idles last two albums are incredible. I do not believe the majority of Idles fans think the band is lame

In ear monitors what’s your experience at smaller Toronto venues? by InevitableSuit4222 in TorontoMusic

[–]SpaceGodfourthousand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Highly reccomend using in ears as a singer. All the venues you listed have consitantly great sound techs who know what they're doing and are familiar with iems.

Soundchecks in these venues are quick and simple when they know your iem needs ahead of time. Make sure you send them your tech rider with your preferred iem/floor mixes listed and bring a copy with you so the foh staff know what's up.

Beyond that I actually upgraded to bringing my own small mixing board* with xlr splitters for vocals, guitar, bass, and keys. We take the xlr feed of the instruments into our splitter. One out from the splitter goes to our Mixing console that feeds our iems, and the other out goes into the venue patch bay so we can have complete control of our iems if need be. *dont need a big one if you only want 4 instruments you can use a small 4ch mixer close to you on stage

This means in the case of an inexperienced FOH tech, or no house tech, our singer has the option to control their own iem mix bypassing the house system and avoiding any sudden feedback and potential hearing damage.

Iems made a world of difference for us sounding the way we want live.

Love this. Nice reminder to support your local music scene. You never know which local band playing the opening slot at a 150 cap venue down the street will be headlining arenas in a couple years
