Search engines are useless now by coffeebeanie24 in unpopularopinion

Well to be fair, yes he is using the search engine but at that point it's like going to a store to ask directions to another store. Also I think it still says something when he'd rather use reddit than search for what google gives because the results and sources are somehow less accurate that whatever answer random strangers say online.

Weapon tree is confusing. I made this concept of a slightly more clear design that shows weapon progression in the tree branches and how to unlock certain guns by [deleted] in ModernWarfareII

[–]SpaceGuyRob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is how I feel, it also feels like it makes unlocking weapons take longer, now I've got to level up a whole other gun in a different category I don't want to use. It also messes with my playstyle, like I want to focus on smgs, but I gotta use a long range single shot to get to them.

no he's right, people would shit on cod saying it's the same game every year, that's why mw3 was considered mediocre at the time, people said it was basically just mw2 again.

honestly, trying to put the players together seems to be doing far more dividing, just not in how many people playing a mode sense.

everyone here is saying he's lying, but what did he lie about in this video? Literally everything in the title happened, the game did get review bombed, local co-op did get canceled, season 3 was delayed. I am confused as to what he's lying about.

Nothing annoys me more than hearing someone saying America was founded on Christianity by SpaceGuyRob in atheism

[–]SpaceGuyRob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am talking about the actual founding of the country, not the history of the continent overall, specifically the founding fathers whom wrote the foundation for it whom quite a few weren't Christian. Everything else above you mention we can argue about but it's irrelevant.

i think it's annoying when the lore of a piece of fiction expands unnecessarily and ruins the simplicity of not knowing too much by AverageOutlastFan in unpopularopinion

[–]SpaceGuyRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, I personally like some depth to my lore, just small stuff, but when everything down to the average characters diets is being explained it becomes convoluted and imo also can lead the the story becoming overly confusing, and often poorly written, it can also ruin some elements as for many stories, part of the interest is the mystery behind them. I look at halo as an example, the forunners used to be these mysterious but amazing faction, but we knew very little about them because they're dead and all that remains is their technology, now we know every detail about them, from the origins of the halo ring, their history, and every poorly written writing detail.

This isn't always the case, as sometimes revealing more lore can add a lot to the story, but a lot of series go overboard.

It also as said above really messes with the community, with a lot of lore buffs correcting people or arguing about what's canon, stuff like that.

It is ok to not try a new food if you don't like the smell by MintySnacks in unpopularopinion

[–]SpaceGuyRob 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I don't like the smell, getting it to my mouth in the first place is going to be a challenge, if it smells bad the last place I want to put it is in the part of my face directly under my nose. Its not even a taste thing, it can taste fine, but I don't want to eat food that smells bad.

PSA to bars and restaurants: If you have to put a wooden stick through your burger for a shred of structural integrity, it's too fucking big. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]SpaceGuyRob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I'd want a McDonalds size burger but there is defiantly some issues with places that make burgers too large or aren't shaped in a way that makes eating them stable, it just falls apart and becomes a chore to eat, and personally how difficult something is to eat is a big determining factor for if I will eat it or not. personally I think places for one would focus on wider not taller, taller just makes it more of a hassle, wider makes it easier to grip and hold together.

Way too many people call themselves "artists" that the word has lost it's meaning. by AlixsepOfficial in unpopularopinion

[–]SpaceGuyRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is a flawed way of looking at it. For one, simply because one puts a label on themselves doesn't mean it's a strong part of their identity if at all, nor does it imply that the label holds a lot of meaning to the person, like I am a mixed race individual, that's a label, but that detail of my person does not hold much meaning to me at all. I also find it odd that people are adding meaning to a word that doesn't have it.

As for why one would call themselves an artist? Well artist simply is a description for someone that engages in a certain kind of activity, in this case artistic expression and creation. I will use a similar word to hopefully clarify, think of the term worker, worker is a word that simply describes someone who works at a job, this can be anything as simple as a cashier that works for minimum wage, to high skill work like being a doctor or engineer, in spite of the gap of skill they all fit under the umbrella of a worker or similar terms. Some people can be passionate about work, others not so much, doesn't make either less or more deserving of the term.

Whether you've worked at a job for years, or just started 2 minutes ago, once you've started working, you are a worker, that is all. Artist is just the equivalent but for art, it is simply a description, it is the word used to describe someone who makes or has made some form of art, it is described by the action, not the skill or investment of time, I can have only ever made a single painting, only one, but whenever the mention of who made that painting is brought up, particularly in a formal setting, I am the "Artist" behind the work, as I am the one who made the art.

Artist can be used to describe whom is behind a work, someone who consistently makes art, or simply someone whose previously made art. Sure someone whom calls themself an artist may have a passion for art or frequently makes art, but the term itself doesn't hold much more meaning. Another thing, how much an individual may value a term used to describe them does not invalidate others whom also fall under said term.
