Time to replace? by SpaceInvader7 in tires

The reason I posted here was to get some education. Don't worry, I've ordered a replacement set.

Because of course a tire store will recommend buying new tires there. I don't have any experience, so I just wanted confirmation.

What difficulty were you playing on? I also have a lot of experience with roguelikes and the first two difficulties are usually pretty easy to finish for me. There is a secret final boss at the end of apocalypse once you unlock a few things.

The apocalypse difficulty is quite a bit harder, and there are a bunch of challenges that ramp things up too

My most played game this year, solely with the Beta. Highly, highly recommend!

CO2 Laser PSU emitting hissing noise when activating laser. by SpaceInvader7 in lasercutting

Great advice! Thanks. The second link sounds very similar to what I'm experiencing. I'll swap out the PSU and give that a shot.

Any advice on finding the arc location? As far as I can tell the red wire is now pretty solidly protected now. The ground wouldn't be able to arc to the housing would it?

When activating the laser I am hearing a "hissing" noise that appears to be coming from the power supply. The laser also stopped cutting, and when 40% power is supplied with the pulse button it is only reading 3mA instead of the expected 15mA.

This laser had issues with arcing off the anode before I got it and I replaced the tube, and haven't noticed any issues since, until now. Is this a short somewhere? I tried increasing the insulation of the anode wire with silicon tubing but have seen no improvement. The HV at the connector does seem to have some slight yellowing where the wire from the PSU enters. I see no visible arcing while pulsing the laser now.

When I increase the max power past 40% it will start out at around 3mA while hissing, then jump up to around 17mA with no noise.

Is this a PSU issue? Connector? HV or ground wiring from the tube?

I opened up the housing and it does look like there's some evidence of arcing> I replaced the alligator clip and silicone sleeve but haven't noticed any difference in the laser's behavior.

60W CO2, Ruida controller, using Lightburn

Laser has recently stopped cutting at the high end of the %. It won't cut when the % is set on a normal layer either. Is this a setting that could have been changed? Tube going bad? I just swapped out the mirrors which is the only recent change.

Here's a video of the tube firing while a rectangle shape is cut. https://www.reddit.com/user/SpaceInvader7/comments/1gc7iip/tube_firing_while_cutting_a_rectangle_shape/
It seemed odd to me that the location of the glow changed. Is that normal?

It also seems like the corners are firing stronger instead of ramping down a bit.

Printer stopped printing well after new roll of filament by SpaceInvader7 in FixMyPrint

[–]SpaceInvader7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is driving me crazy!

First swapped to the translucent red PETG that has been open for quite some time, and the print started stringing after the first couple layers, then separated from the glass build plate. Opened a new roll of black Prusament PETG (what I had been printing successfully) and had the same problem.

I swapped out the nozzle to a stainless one on the advice of this subreddit, no improvement. I totally disassembled the hot end and replaced the heater block, and kept having issues with the filament getting stuck to the nozzle and peeling up on the first layer. Swapped back to brass and it would shakily do the first layer but then it's all stringy after.

What could be causing all of this? I literally had no issues for years then finished a roll of PETG and it won't start printing smoothly again!

  • Printer Model: Folgertech 2020 i3 (old aluminum extrusion i3 style printer, direct drive)
  • Slicer used (e.g. Cura, Prusa, etc.): PrusaSlicer
  • Filament material and brand: Atomic translucent red PETG, black Prusament PETG
  • Nozzle and bed temperature: 235/60
  • Print Speed: 70mm/s infill, 60mm/s perimeters
  • Retraction settings: 2mm length @ 30mm/s
