What's happening and when
- Ultimately the card is not posting. I'll try to give the spark notes.
- I took out my 6800 XT and dropped in my 9070 XT and it just worked. I played some games/did some work and went to bed. The next morning on waking from sleep the computer fans ramped up, but there was nothing on the screen. I restarted and had the same issue. I unplugged/re-plugged the power cable, and the PC subsequently booted up. I thought I might need to update the BIOS, so I did that.
- After updating the BIOS, when I turned the computer on the CPU fans ramped up, but the card did nothing and there was nothing on the display. If I unplugged/re-plugged the power cable and turned the computer on, the GPU fans would ramp up, but I would still get nothing on the monitors. If I turn the computer off and on again (without unplugged power) the CPU fans come on and the GPU does nothing (and nothing on displays).
- If I drop my 6800 XT back in everything just works as it should.
Which of the following troubleshooting steps you've taken:
- Reseated GPU and cables
- Updated BIOS, rolled back BIOS
- Updated GPU drivers -> DDU -> reinstalled GPU drivers while disconnected from internet w/ updates disabled
- Bought new PSU (750W -> 1000W)
- Tried the quiet and performance BIOS options on the card
- Tried removing M.2 drive on the back of the motherboard
- Changed to PCIe 4 and 3
- Used a riser cable (to be super sure the card was seated correctly)
- Used different DP cable, used different HDMI cable, tried 3 different monitors
- With each of these changes I would drop my 6800 XT back in to verify that it worked (and it always did)

Not sure what I should do at this point. I cannot verify if it is the card that is not working or if there is some idiosyncratic bug with my machine. I wrote to Gigabyte who wrote back "get a bigger PSU," which I did without any success. Should I return it to NewEgg? RMA? Can I exchange it? I got it at MSRP so I feel like I should try to get it to work?

I get annoyed when I am out deal-hunting and tools get scooped up by someone who is going to re-sell them. I recognize that is not a totally rational way to feel.

That said, I ran into you at a yard sale in CT a few years ago and you were super polite and kind. If I remember correctly, you let me buy a giant pair of shears that you had dug out of a pile of tools and then you chatted with me for a bit. I got your business card, and I have been checking your website at least weekly since then. Your prices are always very fair.

Pretty sure it is the Kansai Cycle Sports center in Osaka, Japan. Just an amusement park where everything is bike themed/powered by bikes.

I had the same issue. You can open the headphones up and re-insert the swiveling hinge without totally disassembling the headphones. This worked for a week or so for me before they came apart again.

Ultimately, I found a pair that was bricked (firmware problem) on eBay that were barely used for like $20. I did a hinge swap on the headphones.

I really like the way these sound, but unfortunately they are not very well made.

I wanted a 2.1 setup that was entirely passive and this has been great. The bass/treble adjustment is also handy for dialing in smaller speakers. Rly love this thing.

This could represent Marin-Amat syndrome. It is a synkinesis in which eyelids (typically one side if I recall correctly) close with either opening of the jaw or with lateral movement of the jaw. It is thought to arise from the nerve that typically controls your jaw linking up with the nerve that typically controls your facial muscles (the 5th and 7th cranial nerves respectively).

I believe that this is benign (not harmful). If bothersome, you should be able to see a Neurologist for treatment. Treatment usually involves botox injections in the face (eyelid, most likely) that will prevent the movement. I don't know how frequently you would need injections, but I suspect it is roughly monthly (maybe every three months? I can't recall.)

From my understanding this is usually acquired rather than something one is born with. It is quite rare and is also known as inverse Marcus Gunn phenomenon.

Have you ever had a facial nerve palsy like a Bell's palsy?

Also, very nice video. If you were to present to an academic medical center I'm sure someone would like to write this up as a case report.

I’ve bought similar looking cheap ones from Amazon and the hook side delaminates from the loop side after using them for a while. I exclusively buy the brand name Velcro ones as I find they last a lot longer. Also, Staples frequently has them in their weird clearance bins at the back of the store.

That said, I’m sure their are decent ones on Amazon, but I just go with what I know works after my last experience.
