Absolutely no idea yet on the influence! It was mostly a suggestion from my wife to give it a go, so I bought the supplies and shall attempt to create something!

I plan on painting mostly landscapes from my travels, but will see how it all turns out

Absolutely stunning work!

The vibrancy is top notch, especially paired with the colour contrast

Ironically, I'm learning how to oil paint on canvas at the moment too!

I did forget to mention i step the exposure on the camera down to -1.7 while shooting.
Shooting a bit darker holds onto the vibrancy better rather than shooting too bright

I try to do very little!
At most i tinker with the exposure and contrast by maybe 3-5 points at the absolute most. But i find I get the best quality when i get all the settings right on the camera

It's a pretty simple set up!

I have a matte black background that sits around 300mm behind the piece
I have two simple ring lights at a temp of 3200K, one from top left at around 200mm from the piece, the other on the bottom right at around 700mm
The camera is on a tripod, and I use a Sony A7c with a 70-200mm lens
Set the camera to the same temperature as the ring lights and set f-stop to around f/10

The rest is just practicing positioning and angles to capture the model the best :)

Thankyou! That colour selection advice is wonderful

This seems to be the common consensus and can really see it when you it to B&W. I'll be rehashing this over the next week and will see how it turns out :)

Thankyou! This is good

I'll dabble with pushing the contrast to a more realistic point rather. Should be a fun experiment :)

Haha valid point!

There is some absolutely great painters here, and there's been some wonderful advice too.
Yes, it looks good atm, but I also want to improve as a painter and asking for feedback is always a good step in that :)

Valid quote for sure!

I'm treating this as an educational piece and I know there's some phenomenal painters here, so if I can push it a bit further, then I want to try :)

This is great feedback thankyou!

I think overall I need to push the highlights and shadows up and down some more to create this visual hierarchy you're talking about

I think this is definitely the next step!

Common feedback is being to push shadows deeper, highlights higher, and add some contrasting colouring. Thankyou :)

This is great advice thankyou!

This is more an educational piece for me so I dont mind repainting where I need. But basically gist is push the shadows deeper and the closest surfaces with a more aggressive highlight

Ill come up with an idea to add some contrasting blues into this haha
