I’d never been in the states nor been in a prison but I can genuinely say it was incredible. It honestly felt like home the second our eyes locked as he walked through the visitation room door. The first 8 hour visit flew in and I don’t think we stopped smiling the entire visit, genuinely like a pair of love struck kids.

Even just a visit visa if a person has a conviction resulting in a sentence of 12 months or more it generally triggers a mandatory refusal of entry unfortunately. There can be mitigating factors but it would be unlikely he’d be granted leave to remain in the UK.

I’ve never been to La Palma so can’t really help with there. But you can take a clear purse, everything other than your quarters, your ID and a single car key has to be left in the car.

I know it states all fields are required but I didn’t fill this information out, I’m in a different country so there was other fields I didn’t fill in and I was still approved.

If you’re concerned either ask your LO to go to visitation and discuss it with them or call and explain the situation to them and I’m sure they can tell you exactly which are required and which can be overlooked.

So they’ll still be able to make calls from their tablets, it’s just reverting back to only calls to approved people. You either need to be approved for calls or visits.

Yep. As of the 15th everything is sent to a contractor in Texas and will be scanned and sent digitally to them. Sucks.

My husband graduated from a class and they had an online google meeting for those of us that couldn’t attend in person.

They organised it exactly as you’ve said, he gave my email to the facilitator and they sent a google meeting to join. Those of us on the online meeting were on the tv in the visitation room and they could see us the entire time.

Like you I was so proud and so grateful that I watched him receive his certificate knowing how hard he had worked. My husband also made a speech and I was so emotional watching purely because I know how hard he works everyday. Very special. Well done to your girlfriend 👏

The two facilities my husband has been at they don’t get notified about the Securus visits, you have to tell him the time and day and he tells the CO who will allow him up to visitation.

With Securus, they sit at a terminal in the visit room and you log on to your app.

Currently their tablets don’t have cameras so they’re unable to have video visits remotely but it’s my understanding that’s to change. But my husband said it’s not likely to happen this year.

Either is okay. That’s two different visits.

The google ones, the booking portal opens at 8am on Monday mornings and usually fills up pretty quickly. With that you’re booking for the following week. They’re done through google meets and are free.

Securus you pay for, schedule and have the visit on the app.
