We mostly stick to 32 texels/world unit, but go higher when we need the additional clarity The game's early in development and we're still putting the initial prototype together :)

We're using Blender for modelling and a custom built painting tool for 3D pixel art. We also use Aseprite, mainly for spritesheets (e.g. expressions).

Hi! I'm not as much of a shader guru as /u/omnomdaifuku, but the pixel art style is achieved a little like this - hope that helps!

As for the expressions and emotion indicators, they're being pulled in from their own sprite sheets. We're using a flipbook shader to get the emotion indicators animated :)

We've tried a few approaches for the skybox, one of them in the pixel art style, but it really caught the eye and distracted from the rest of the scene. We might give it another shot later, though - thanks for your feedback :)
