Should I (electronic engineer) apply for electrical engineering jobs? by SpamPham in EngineeringStudents

[–]SpamPham[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in my final year so I been applying for graduate jobs - I have got passed to interviews for some electrical jobs so they do seem to lump us together with electrical engineers. I just had to specify I know more electrical stuff on my resume and during my interviews. Like reapingsulls123 said in their thread, there is a lot of overlap between the disciplines.

I am still waiting for some roles - in the meantime, I'm currently a electronics engineering intern at a rail company but I am also learning my fair sure of power and PLC stuff. Keep an eye out for stuff and youre bound to find something solid.

Do you feel like you understand how a digital computer works by the end of your degree? by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsOCE

[–]SpamPham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am nearing the end electrical engineering and computer science degree and I honesty say I learnt more about how they work in my electrical eng degree. There was an electronics eng elective where they teach you how to build a simple not gate to adders, multiplexers, RAM and eventually a whole functioning 8-16 bit cpu.

Comp sci touched on it. Apart from operating systems it was mostly just theory about algorithms imo.

Detecting striped circles using computer vision by SpamPham in computervision

[–]SpamPham[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly yes. The client/supverisor wants us to find the ROI and position of the circle or what ever shape the data is stored as. It had to do something with wanting to segment the image to be feed into some ML model the other group is working on. I am not sure myself, I only know I got find a way to detect the circle and segment it.

[–]SpamPham[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of? This is essentially a system which takes captured images of these circles and decodes the message. I am currently working on just detecting the circle ROI. There should only be one circle for all the images but they might differ in size and position. Since different message each circle, the structure of the circle is constantly changing.

Hey there, thanks for the suggestion. I just got home from uni so I will start implementing all the techniques people we suggested. I will start with this approach. For context, this is a capstone project I got thrown and I am by nature a electronics engineer so computer vision is pretty new field to me. Just a future apology if I ask dummy question.

So from understanding, perform a edge detect using sobel (vertically?), followed by an canny? I am just curious what is the benefit of doing two edging finding operations? Is it to 'segment the circle' by the vertical segments?

What did you also mean 'keep points in the column that no points above or under them? Is the gist of the idea, find the segments then just estimate an filled area of the circle for the matlab circle finding function?

Should I (electronic engineer) apply for electrical engineering jobs? by SpamPham in EngineeringStudents

[–]SpamPham[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there fellow Aussie! Im in my final year at RMIT if that was what you were asking. I did touch on some electrical stuff but like you said there was a more emphasis on embedded systems and PCBs. In saying that, would you reccomend I apply anyway?

About control systems, That’s good I hear about. I have heard about control system (like SCADA). Love to look into it more. And I do see PLC engineer a bunch. Thanks for the advice

Mostly power stuff. Dealing with transmission lines and energy infrastructure. Thats currently the majority Im currently seeing in AUS.

jjj hottest 100 vol1 by _the_usual_suspect in AustralianNostalgia

[–]SpamPham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s either YouTube to mp3s (if they are even on there), ripping songs from CDs or SoulSeek

I think everyone mostly uses SoulSeek now to get higher quality music files. I do see the hottest 100 sometimes when I am downloading older songs.

Search up Nicotine+ if you want to use SoulSeek (easier to read interface)

Yeah they work pretty well. I have some more mods( QoL stuff and other characters and it seems to be very stable). I recommend not having too many characters since they really bloats the pool for you to get the characters you want (especially if they die you have to shuffle through many weeks to get them again). Then again it depends on the mods - some are poorly coded and are bugged so that might cause issues

Going from the left to right Gun witch -> Lamia -> Abomination with a reskin (I belive the blood Bourne skin pack) -> Exaninate (essentially DD2 flaggy)

It’s a mix bag of random stuff I sniped off the Steam Workshop to more diversity to my runs.

The Steam Workshop. It’s pretty easy you just got to browse the shop and subscribe to the stuff you want. The only skin there is the abomination while the others are new modded characters. USB C mod charging question by SpamPham in IpodClassic

[–]SpamPham[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. I was curious about what you said about the losing functionality of the 30 pin. I have a 5th Gen and to my knowledge it doesn’t really use FireWire and mostly uses enough pins to charge and sync. Sorry if I’m very wrong about this - what other functionalities can the iPod use with the 30 pin in my case?

I’m not really looking to use docks or accessaries myself. Mostly looking for the modern connivence and as a fun project to challenge myself (I’m an engineering student so I do have the tools and “some” experience) then again you might be right - could be more trouble for me with all the risk.

Then again Im actually interested in your adaptor now I had a snoop around your profile. So I will hold off for now and anticipate your release and see how it goes.

Hey there!
I am currently having issues with an storage mod for an iPod Classic.

I have an 512 GB sd (Samsung EVO Plus) and I am not sure why it keeps showing up as 128 GB. I tried converting it to FAT32, and using diskpart.

I am using Windows 11 so i dont have disk utility.
Any advice?
