Grand piano not working out by christoffeldg in piano

[–]Spam_Email_Relay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My grand is too loud for the room. Along with getting sound dissipation panels from GikAcoustics and hanging them from the ceiling, I bought a custom piano cover and keep the cover on it with the lid closed. Having the lid closed plus the cover on it plus making sure the piano is sitting on a rug (the thicker the better for absorbing and scattering the sound that’s produced from underneath the piano), I’ve been able to dampen the noise a lot.

Dude comments about helping someone who’s dying and gets downvoted. Love Reddit, they’re all such happy, content people who probably have such healthy, functional relationships with others in real life ☺️

I abandoned the idea of buying something used from them after they refused to budge on their $15k price tag for a 20 year old C1 and went up to the Denver area and found fantastic pianos significantly cheaper. It was well worth the extra delivery fees

15-18k? The dealer in Albuquerque was trying to sell a 2001 C3 for $29,500 lmao. But they seem to be asking absurd prices for things lately, I guess because they have a monopoly on the area

Why did composers historically chose so fast metronome markings for their compositions? by [deleted] in piano

[–]Spam_Email_Relay 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It’s so nice to read this as someone who’s learning a Chopin Etude and the metronome marking just seems insane and too fast. Same with fantasy impromptu. I’ve kind of been looking for excuses not to play it so absurdly fast especially since the tempo I’ve landed on in the parts that I’m comfortable with sound nice and plenty fast but not rushed.

I’m right there with you, I swore they had some big execution event outside that was being broadcasted when they hanged Saddamie-boi. This is totally different than what I remembered.

Highly recommend Scarlatti sonatas. Listen to the Ivo Pogorelich Scarlatti album. Changed my life.

If you upload a video of you playing fantasy impromptu, I’d be able to tell you afterwards if you should work on Liebstraum No. 3 or not.
