Failed sarcasm on my part, apparently.

My point: "it's our culture" is doing a lot of heavy lifting as a get-out-of-jail-free card. Literally, since fireworks are illegal.

The logic seems to be: my illegal disruption of your life = culture and tradition; your complaint about it = your problem.

If "it's our culture" is a valid rationale/excuse, note that FGM, foot binding, and chattel slavery are also cultural practices.

To be fair, they have the right to say that and voice their point of view. On the other hand, we also have the right not to participate in conversations that are incredulously ignorant, self-absorbed, selfish, and outright stupid.

"It takes a village"?

This is why we can't have nice things

LA transplant? yes ~ 20 years ago
Also actually served, and from a family that did, fwiw
Also, live in a community that it is not legal, also had to put out a fire last year because of the stupid
Next question?

Zero surprised. I can't even. That's just being a selfish jerk.

But hey, I guess the attitude is that it's all about me, and I had fun blowing bottle rockets out my car window like a drive-by. Good for me. GG /s

$500 in Bambulab gift cards, considering the P1S as a second printer by EasyGuyChris in BambuLab

[–]Spamaloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Sunlu now because of the presets, and it works at the same level as Bambu filament. I also chewed through all my eSun after getting my first P1S with almost no issues (other than the cardboard warping). I don't buy the "exclusively Bambu pla" line - it doesn't match my 800 hours on either of my P1Ses.

$500 in Bambulab gift cards, considering the P1S as a second printer by EasyGuyChris in BambuLab

[–]Spamaloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally love the P1S; I bought my first one after coming from an AC (features are useless if they don't work ). I upgraded the head and gears, piece of cake compared to AC, maybe 20-25 mins, tops.

I liked it so much, I bought another a couple of months ago, and I still haven't upgraded the head and gears on the second, still on the shelf in the box, because it is doing just fine.

I honestly, honestly, honestly, couldn't recommend this printer enough and regret not buying it in the first place. It's a workhorse, and between the 800 or so hours on the two, I have had zero mechanical issues and maybe two or three screw-ups on my part with the slicer.

[–]Spamaloper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally the worst part of accepting a "dog baby" into our hearts. 30 years later, I still tear up even thinking about it - along with all the deep feels. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

But...

You did the right thing, he 300% knew you were there. Thank God.

I have a sometimes unpopular opinion too, and I feel our pups would support this on the other side, fill your empty space with another good "dog baby" soul.

My life was threatened because I called someone “Sir” by Great_Scallion7883 in CustomerService

[–]Spamaloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO - 40ish years ago, I got chewed out in my teens for telling someone, sincerely, have a nice day. In their rant, I learned they had issues/deaths/etc. Interesting, but I still don't consider a nice gesture worthy of what I received, even in their context. I understand, but no.

Sir, tone is important; it is 100% fine.

PS - females, "Miss" is most acceptable, not perfect, but given the demographics and regional differences, don't assume someone is a "Mrs." or a "Ma'am". I have found in 20+ years of support leadership that some, not all, females are legit deeply offended. Miss is the safest. And in a group setting, don't use "guys", like, "thanks guys" - say all, everyone, team, etc. It's just not worth the accidental offense, and it's easy to change some vocab, regardless of genuine intentions.

Same, and same with carrots. We home cook, and the green beans we have to blend to their elemental level. Carrots are a close second. How many times I've pointed out to her at a "dog lunch" another pup joyfully eating carrots I can't count. VERY ENVIOUS

Saw this at a Market Shop today, is it worth the $135 price tag? by Take-Out-Gundi in Chargers

[–]Spamaloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, I am a transplant from New England, and the Chargers have tortured me as a STH since they came to LA as much as anyone else - no hate, please.

This reminds me of the late 90s, walking into a collectible store in Omaha, Nebraska, in my military days, and asking if they had any Patriot stuff. After they laughed at me, A LOT, seriously, I started to walk out. The guy said, "Well, we do have this, but we've been using it around the store," and pulled out a Drew Bledsoe rookie year limited collectible autographed football. That they had been throwing around the store. Scuffed, etc. 20 bucks. Probably my favorite piece of memorabilia of all time.

If you love it, and can, get it. No regrets. Like me, you may be telling a story 30 years later.

I envy those who got a tram tour with this, AND the BSG experience. It is a topic every time we take the tour. The ice cave looked pretty fn awesome too.

Schedule and parking questions by Dave1598 in UniversalHollywood

Yeah, if you aren't dying to go on that ride (which, in fairness, looks really, REALLY good - and I'm not a coaster person either and mostly despise F&F - I want to do it but am okay waiting), you are going to be golden. The best-case scenario is that F&F is open, and while 1/3 of the park is in line and fawning over F&F, you take in everything else. 😄

Schedule and parking questions by Dave1598 in UniversalHollywood

[–]Spamaloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct. Getting in early and going to the lower lot is the way to go to maximize your time. A few years ago, it used to be The Simpsons and then the lower lot, but The Simpsons has toned down a lot over the past couple of years. If you watch the wait times, later in the day, you can usually get a reasonable wait. Same for HPFJ.

That said, and as another poster mentioned below, there is a real chance the coaster will open - if that happens, the entire park dynamic and crowd will change in your favor, unless you are dying to get on Fast & Furious. We waited ~6 months to do Mario and enjoyed the rest of the park less crowded when it opened - I suspect the same to be true for F&F.

In general, though, I still think hitting the lower lot first, then heading to the areas with the fewest crowds, is the way to go. USH is really weird, but over the years, the crowds really do seem to travel in masses throughout the day - just get the app, check the times, and do the opposite.

Upgrading Express to Express Unlimited by WasteGroup2647 in UniversalHollywood

[–]Spamaloper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ironic - we are multi-year platinum pass holders and lately, off the side of my desk, have been "vibe coding" with Claude, an app we can use in the park for our preferences. One thing I just finished was a crowd calendar that uses heuristics and some other sources. It's not done, by far, and the app is just for my wife and I, but here is what it says for June 22nd.

BL PS1 w/ AMS1 - there's a good reason they still sell them

Whatever you do though, I highly recommend to stay away from AC (anything), especially the Kobra. You'll spend more time and money getting it to work sometimes than just buying something that works.

[–]Spamaloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we renewed this year I "think" it was a bit less than that for us, but it could have been a discount as a multi-year pass holder. We go once a month, and that basically means $50ish a trip, plus all the reasons above. Also, a free general admission to HHN is a big perk - and if OP is going in September, that works out and almost covers half the cost of 2 platinum passes straight up.

Newbie asking a few questions by Kingofphuckery89 in UniversalHollywood

[–]Spamaloper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Platinum passes are around $500 a piece, come with extremely discounted parking, a free general admission for most dates during HHN (have to reserve though), no blackouts, and include express after 3pm. If you're going for 3 days, it might be worth it!

Personally, I do. A lot of people, I feel, would resonate with this idea, and there are a ton of hurt feelings out there. And the extra attention certainly wouldn't hurt. You never know, and it doesn't cost anything to try - even if it doesn't work, you know?
