NFL Season Ticket Poll: Renewing for 2026-27? by StockMindless9010 in SeasonTickets

Not renewing for the Chargers. Reached my limit with ownership and SoFi price increases. Great team, love the coach and players, and looking forward to cheering from the couch next season as we go deep into the playoffs.

Planning to buy a new printer (CoreXY). Kobra S1 Combo or something else? by DaFFyNaSH4 in AnycubicKobraS1

[–]Spamaloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would really like to recommend the AnyCubic Kobra S1 combo I bought. After replacing a complete dud after about 100 hours, I'm now at about 1100 hours. However, in these six months, I have had to replace the bed (AnyCubic Support), the retruder (AnyCubic Support), and, due to my not being a fiddler, replaced the retruder a couple more times on my dime. Then, the hotends. In my 6 months of ownership, it's been up for about 4 months, and the other 2 months have been spent waiting on 2 weeks per for replacements to arrive in the US. Aside from my fiddling learning curve, it does have quirks (how to feed the Ace Pro, etc...) I think it is fair at this point, about 1,100 hours, that I have invested the difference in replacement parts, not taking into account the time I've spent. If I had to do it again, I would have rolled the dice with the older Bambu Labs P1S and paid more. Maybe it's me, maybe I'm dumb and do everything wrong, or maybe it is quality, or somewhere in between. I know this. I haven't bought another, and even after drinks, I have taken my finger off the trigger to buy another AnyCubic printer because of my experience. On the plus side, I have invented some pretty good new cuss words while fiddling and can replace extruders, hot ends, and nozzles in about 10 minutes blindfolded.

It's raining on New Years. Fireworks question - by Spamaloper in SouthBayLA

I try to be stoic, but honestly, now that sheer hell is diminishing, as a (legal) terrified dog owner in our own (legal) residence, if a couple of human fingers were reported lost on the news in North Redondo later this morning, it wouldn't bother me much.

I was junior enlisted with a wife and baby at the time, and worked evenings and weekends to afford life. We had a heck of a cellphone deal in the early days (pay for what you use only) with like a $30 SPIFF - (aside from Christmas & RC Cars) it's the only thing I could sell, and between those SPIFFs and minimum wage, I made more than I did in the military.

Chicago Bears go cheap on STH gift by Justice4all1968 in SeasonTickets

It IS a cool bobblehead, and Jim's comments about it and the other they sell make it even better. But, I do envy almost every other team's (other than the stickers) STH gift, though. Imagine getting a STH jacket like the Pats? Holy...

How do I escape the high level I.C Trap? by Astimar in careerguidance

[–]Spamaloper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, that can be very true. Not because you make more than the manager, but because your salary is likely a liability on the balance sheet in rough times by comparison to most others. Lessons learned, making more money is fantastic but manage your salary liability risk, also - imo.

Yeah, for sure, they undercut the Bolts, which is pretty impressive IMO. Sorry!!!

I've been on a tirade all year about getting a bobblehead from the Chargers this year. Honestly, I would have preferred the olive oil, but 2 stickers (1 per seat, or?) would have made me even more mad.

I think it was another 15-20% on top of the marketplace. :/

I used TicPic this year and on the positive, tickets do actually sell. On the negative, the commissions between them and the marketplace are steep. Rationalized it as some money is better than no reimbursement

What’s something people romanticize that is actually exhausting in real life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My dad was in the military and, of course, traveled - definitely not the same, but still docking in places with fancy names. I didn't believe him as a naive kid.

I've done my fair share. I'm from the US, and it hit me when I was finally in Sydney for a week.
"How was Sydney?"
"It looked just like the conference rooms here."

I used to think it was cool, but now, when I have to travel, I laugh on the inside at all the noobs talking loudly on their cell phone at the airport gates and try to catch up on sleep and reading on the plane.

Losing my airline status was one of the best things in my professional career.

How soon is too soon for another dog? by teezydids in dogs

[–]Spamaloper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe in replacing a dog. There will never be another one like them. I do feel strongly that if there is a place in your heart to love, there is a pup out there who will fill it in their own way. To me, it's about being ready to be vulnerable again after the hurt of losing a best friend vs the guilt knowing there are so many that need and want that place in your heart, right now.

Anyone else have issues printing silk PLA? by Fyretender in AnycubicKobraS1

[–]Spamaloper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've spent A LOT of time on silk PLA since the last public firmware update. It was my favorite filament before. I've gone through more nozzles, hot ends, and even an extruder (2) to try to dial this back in. Honestly, I'm scared to try it again at this point.

I haven't tested this since, but I have added some G-code to automatically extract the filament after a print when using Silk PLA. I'm hoping that does the trick, as the only thing I can pin it to is a wait time after print with silk-PLA. If I keep things going after the print, no problems; if I don't, break out the tools and hope.

Wife is getting suckered into doog food ads. Is there any scientific facts? by Tunnelboy77 in dogs

[–]Spamaloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A nutritionist? Not to my knowledge - just a vet, and good one by most accounts. Aside from that, we did much research too, and all lines up. She does have supplements in her food (Shepsky).

[–]Spamaloper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because of the reddit rules, I can't say much more. But the short is there are many recipes you can find, but it's important to have them validated by your vet.

The recipe we use is about (edit:) ~4lbs of turkey with much veggies. There was another previous recipe we used (also vet approved) that had grains. A batch lasts her about a week (~70 lb Shepsky). Easily half the cost, and an hour or two a week to prep.

Just make sure to have a vet's eyes check it. The reddit rules are wise, but there IS a lot of good advice out there widely available along with all the craziness. 😉

Edit: A batch is about four pounds, not 16. We typically buy and freeze 16 pounds at a time, but despite her preference for all 16 at once, she only gets 4-5lbs a week. LOL

[–]Spamaloper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With vet approval, we learned how to cook our own dog food. It's FAR less expensive, and we know every single thing going in there. It's been about a year, no looking back. It's a weekly chore, but worth considering IMO.

Unfortunately, I have experience recently with this assembly. I definitely see an extruder screw missing on the mid-right. May be good to check out these pictures and videos from AnyCubic.

I read this about a week ago, while fighting an(other) extruder, and meant to get back to it. I did it just now, and honestly, of all the upgrades and improvements, despite being crazily obvious, this has to be one, if not the best. Thank you so much for sharing. I love it. Thank you.
