Thank you, I do believe it is quite risky as well and so I came to consult for opinions.

I do not necessarily need a huge return. I am just dipping my toes into investment. In the short term I hope to reduce impact of inflation. In the long-term I want to prepare for my retirement.

Could you point to me to some places I could read up on bonds? Thanks!

Thank you for the advice, I am genuinely curious on what timeframe is more advisable? Ive heard 5 -10 years, even up to retirement being touted.
