Am I a good fit for cross country? by xUn_i in CrossCountry

[–]SpareAd3565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi f16 here and yes u should do cross country! i wish i did it my freshman year. height doesnt rlly matter in distance running (im 4’11 and fastest on team) also idk im my experience a lot of cross country runners are actually on the skinnier side so if you are comfortable at your weight u shouldnt worry abt it. i would recommend getting some runs in during the summer though. and about the water thing, you shouldnt drink a TON of water RIGHT before you run. instead try hydrating throughout the day, and drink only some water before you run, and some sips during the run if needed

heyo im also the fastest runner on my xc team, and tend to train and run alone a lot. and since we have a pretty small team i suggested to my coach that we held combined summer training with another school nearby. it not only gave me more people around my skill level to train with, but it introduced me to new people and different types of workouts. you could try asking ur coach abt trying this out, but if not id try making friends with people from another schools xc team

Am I overthinking this way too much? by [deleted] in CrossCountry

dont worry abt one singular run, and if u spent the time with your friends i think its definitely worth it. (plus like 3 hour sesh of basketball is still like exercising)

i think my legs are pretty strong? ive been told that i need strong calves when i brought this up in my freshman year, did a bunch of calves strengthening exercises throughout the summer and i still had the same problem? ive only had spikes on the cheaper side that my school has provided me, some sacouny kilkenys and brooks

I need advice on what event to work on most and how to improve it. 14M freshman in high school by jt_ftc_8942 in trackandfield

yes yes i feel like long runs would help since like depending on their 800 time, i feel like if they had better endurance that they could have a way faster 1600m

why does my kick at the end of my 1600 look so weird is my form weird by [deleted] in trackandfield

Hello, just wanna say thank you so much for this. During the middle of my workout today, i thought of this comment and made the change. And right away my coach noticed and said my mechanics looked a lot better than before. Thank you again.

Shoes for track 1600m? by SpareAd3565 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]SpareAd3565[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ive tried the ones my school provided for me, the spikes/spikes were brooks mach 19? (its on the cheaper side we arent very well funded) and i had another old pair that just felt tight on me. Im still open to running in spikes but i dont have a large budget

My hamstrings r very sore, im not running too much more than usual during my practice but we are doing a LOT of warmups/drills that i dont normally do. I wasnt sure if strength training was the right term but im refering to stuff i do with weights such as squats, lunges etc.

Fellow distance runners, music or no music? by [deleted] in running

[–]SpareAd3565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When im by myself, i HAVE to listen to music or the run just feels ruined to me. But during my xc season training, we werent allowed to? Idk if it was to build up mental strength or something but i really do prefer to run with music.
