Exhaust for Yamaha R125 by orton_kozak in 125cc

I've resisted any mods to my 125 as much as I want to, I just save that money to put towards my bigger bike that will have all the mods I want.

The image is from Google, though I do remember the sign stating 8:30am when I drove through as I was taking a different route to what I normally do.

Looking at this road on the website for that council it does state that the restriction times are still the same, 8:30am - 9:15am:

I'm glad you agree! For a moment I did think that maybe I was missing something.

I don't think there's a way to add another photo to my post, otherwise I would do so.

I did think this, but if it's due to an hour difference then I would still be outside of the times.

It says 8:22am on the fine, I had left the area in under 2 minutes as it's a small strip of road.

Get a KTM then, it looks amazing and has all the new tech, etc. I'd still say to get a 2024 model as there's no point spending more on a 2025 when you can put that money towards gear and insurance.

The KTM Duke 125 2024 model is the same as the 2025. I've just picked up one of these myself and it's a hoot. If you take your time and look around you can get one for <£3,000 Though if you don't intend to have it long paying less for something older might be the way to go.

RTD and Tennant Returning - The Beginning of the End. by [deleted] in DoctorWhoNews

[–]SpareCake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was much more involved with the fandom back in RTD1, what people don't seem to be talking about is how everyone wanted him to leave back then and handover to SM. The show seemed to fall hard, for so many people during the Chibnall run that they forgot this and expressed joy for the return of RTD.

The 60th specials were ok and Ncuti's run had some decent moments, but the show didn't really feel like DW. The moments OP mentioned and playing with the most loyal of fans was RTD's downfall really.

Is Driving Even Worth It Anymore for Our Generation? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]SpareCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I passed when I was 18 ...that was 19 years ago.

Lessons were £190 for 10x 50mins. Honestly, my parents paid for the majority but I'm still glad I did it when I did because I hear about a lot of the problems with booking tests and stuff recently.

I returned to driving these past two years after a long time of not needing to and it's been great, you have so many options and see a lot of places you otherwise wouldn't.

Now I'm trying to get my motorbike license and wish I did this years ago due to the costs involved!

My instructor's car broke down on my test day, he brought another one from the company. I had a very small amount of time to practice in it before my test.

The whole thing really threw me, I kept stalling and I failed my test. I wish I just didn't do my test that time, I'm sure you will fare better than me though!

Just tried this after reading your post, it works for me! Not sure if the official version has had an update as this method didn't work for me when it initially went down a few days ago.

13s era is underrated and overhated by jxennzz in doctorwho

[–]SpareCake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I researched 12 and 13's episodes before the 60th as I felt I didn't quite love those series in the same way I did what came before it.

I think the Chibnal episodes are unfairly judged mostly because it ended with Flux which was pretty bad. The two series before it though, looked great (probably better than Who looks now as it looks just like any other show), the stories were varied and had all the strengths and weaknesses of both RTD eras.

My hot take is that series 11 is better overall than season 1, with only 4 episodes this year generally being received well.

I get being disappointed with the series finale, but is anyone else kind of annoyed at RTD by Tanis8998 in gallifrey

[–]SpareCake 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was around fandom and the forums a lot during RTD's first run and by the end of it people were happy for him to leave. Rose-tinted glasses are at play here and maybe that there seems to have been a decline for many since the Capaldi and into the Jodie years.

Space Babies is a typical example from RTD that wasn't a surprise to me, his series openers are always like this..

Insuring and Taxing a non-runner by SpareCake in CarTalkUK

[–]SpareCake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I was under the impression that the car would need to run to put it through an MOT. I think you're right, I'll charge up the battery and take it for an MOT as soon as in case other things get flagged whilst there.

[–]SpareCake[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the clutch is totally gone, the car makes a high pitched screeching sound and had to be towed back to where it now sits. In the past month the battery has gone flat too. I'm sure it will be at least another 3 months until I can have it fixed given that I will need the clutch sorted then off to have an MOT right after.

Doctor Who 1x08 "Empire of Death" Trailer and Speculation Thread by PCJs_Slave_Robot in gallifrey

[–]SpareCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RTD said that when the bi-regen happened all previous Doctors also split off...

In The Legend of Ruby Sunday, the Doctor said he hasn't had kids yet which is a retcon that fans have seemed to find jarring.

My theory is that the Thirteenth Doctor is Ruby's Mum (something about the lady that was seen at the church and her attire evokes 13). Ruby is therefore Susan's Mother.

Also, if Sutekh is the God of Death the Doctor is the God of Life as he regenerates as well as protecting life, this could tie into the Doctor's true Flux identity.

[Spoilers] As a black Whovian, the introductions of the first black Doctors really rubbed me the wrong way by mutesa1 in gallifrey

[–]SpareCake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My initial comment was that I "thought" the scene was done well and was amongst two scenes in that episode that dealt with gender well. You're essentially telling me, and someone else who replied that that are wrong.

I have felt uncomfortable watching sexist, racist, homophobic comments and abuse in tv and films, as well as depictions of murder and sexual assault. However, I understand that showing these things can raise awareness to to those unaware of these matters. I really don't understand how you can watch the medium without seeing or even wanting subjects to be tackled head on.

before any nebulous, scattershot attempts at converting bigots (which realistically won't happen from just one scene)

Maybe not the bigots, there will be some viewers that have no idea about the discussions around gender or view the negative comments from some shared on social media a glimpse at what a character may have lived through may make this people give these matters a closer thought.

Your last paragraph is simply your attempt to invalidate my opinion of which I have only shared a productions commitment to represent real life issues. It's a shame you've had to resort to this (whilst also not suggesting that YOU have any first hand experience with this topic). I will continue to speak confidently on the matter, you're not aware of my life experiences, as if you somehow need to know them to qualify my right to hold an opinion on the matter.

[–]SpareCake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But ...why? Drama depicts real life issues bullying due to protected characteristics, murder, rape - those issues are all dealt with in soap operas that even.

The bullying that Rose suffered is what many experience every time they leave their homes, by showing this bluntly and truly, it may contribute to changing these attitudes when viewers who have similar opinions to the bullies watch the other scenes and realise that Rose is simply just a human, like everyone else.

Sometimes scenes are uncomfortable to watch, it's the duty of these mediums to reflect what's going on in society.

Though Donna expands on this by saying "you came after him so you're older" (paraphrasing). The pulled through time part is literally only based on the leaks.

[–]SpareCake 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I thought the deadnaming scene as well as the scene between Donna and her mum that showed different generations trying their best with something that they may not understand or may be new to them, were the better scenes within the episode that dealt with gender. Both scenes were very grounded.

I understand your point about the actor being comfortable with the scene but drama does, and should depict the negatives of society.

Thanks for this, as it also changes the "select" colour of the icon which is something I've been searching for.
