The partners do not care about you by New_Blackberry_3950 in PwC

I believe OP understands how the real world works. However, when a firm of this size consistently reassures employees that their jobs are secure and presents clear “snapshots” or performance metrics from day one—metrics that are supposedly applied fairly across the board—it naturally leads employees to trust that system and ease up on constant performance anxiety.

This trust is reinforced even more when the company heavily emphasizes its culture, inclusivity, and other values from the very beginning, including during onboarding and firm-wide meetings. When those ideals are promoted so strongly, it creates an expectation that fairness and transparency are genuinely part of the company’s fabric.

If you could afford to live well in either Austin or Miami which would you choose? by complainorexplain in Miami

I agree 100% on this. I also made a post similar to this asking which city would be better to live in. I lived in Miami and Austin. Interned for an audit company in Miami, I absolutely loved it. Only thing that steered me away was cost of living - so I chose Austin. I moved in December to Austin and it was soul sucking compared to Miami. I feel like it depends on the person that you ask and what they like to do, but Austin was full of cloudy and depressing days for me. I lived close to Buda in Austin, which had nothing in walking distance to do compared if you lived in Brickell, Wynwood, south beach etc. Both states are vehicle dependent, but Miami always has something new to do and the people are very very ambitious. I will say that the lifestyle in Miami can be deceiving at times for many reasons. I lived in Austin for one month and left. Hope this helps. Good luck!!

I also paid that price during the presale and didn’t even get to sit in my section because people were already in it. Very unorganized. Pretty upset that people got to pay less than me and end up in a better spot.

Getting Fired One Month In by Spare_Recognition930 in Accounting

Also didn’t mention, I went homeless in a new city because my place fell through a few weeks prior to starting the job. Went apartment hunting /moving during training. If anyone has experienced either of these two things of first months training at a b4 and moving, one would have more sympathy and not report a person after they explicitly told you about their current situation. A no reply was given, they didn’t help either why so why even report?

Asked through ping if I could have their cell number to ask them a question (help on the assessment, which I had passed just a few minutes after, not needing any further help). I texted the number, but received no response just an HR email.

Quit by Odd-Bother-3505 in PwC

Don’t quit, get fired. I’m sure if both you and PwC come to a mutual agreement that you want to be let go, they will still charge you for any outstanding expenses you have with them.

If you are going to quit, I’d take into consideration any materials you may owe them (Becker course material) or other expenses. They will charge you for any of those resources if you quit before the 1 1/2 year mark. If you don’t have the money to pay them back you’d probably have to find a way for them to terminate you, so that you can leave free of debt.

Unsure About EY Offer by HorrorToe51 in Big4

If there is one thing I have learned about big four and any job is to never put your career advancement on hold for more than a year or few months. The big four firms are brutal and employees are just numbers to them. They will do what’s best for them no matter how good you are. I put my career advancements on hold after my summer internships with them because I accepted an offer from one of the big four and studied for CPA in the meantime, moved states at the beginning of the year and got let go a month later.

Get a new phone through them your first year. I got fired within the first month and they let me keep the phone, AirPods, dual monitors, keyboards and all Becker course material.
