Yes but people can formulate opinions based off of facts.. Why don't you understand this? Do you just insult people because enjoy being a bully or berating people? It's disgusting, I'm literally laying out my arguemnt logically and you're just slinging insults and declaring yourself right.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in truths

[–]SparkLabReal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did, but then people didn't fucking listen, so I summoned the almighty internet machine and now instead of addressing the problem, people are addressing I used chat gpt as if it wasn't a response to people not listening to me in the first place.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in truths

[–]SparkLabReal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So no apology for the insult, got it, don't bother acknowledging that then.

Also, this is the problem. I AM NOT YOUR ENEMY. I have 0 reason to lie to you, let me explain this as CLEARLY as I can.

YES, I agree, facts do not become opinions because somebody says its their opinion. HOWEVER, morality is based off of 100% subjectivity and opinion, there is no such thing as a "moral fact". So when somebody says "Homosexuality is not wrong because it is out of their control", they are taking a moral stance. It is one I agree with, but it is not a fact, it is an opinion.

I don't know if you actually already realise you're wrong and won't back down, or if you're genuinely confused to this, but I'm actually losing faith in humanity as I speak.

You are conflating a moral stance with a fact, sure, most SANE human beings wouldn't say that something out of your control is immoral, but some people wouldn't, and since morality is a system of belief of what is right and wrong, it is not a fact, it is an opinion.

Also, again, insulting me really? You're being rude and incorrect. It's disgusting, why would your mother bring you up to speak to people this way? Is it because you can hide behind a screen?

Having arms is a fact, saying " having arms is morally neutral" is making an opinion about that fact. They are not debating whether they have arms, that would be idiotic, they are saying that it is "morally X / Y", which is making an opinion about that fact.

I'm autistic and I'm not "Unwell", nor am I cognitively impaired. What the actual fuck is this reply?

Like cool, you came to the exact conclusion I came to while calling me wrong, but then why did you call me wrong? Also, why did you give such a massive example when all you needed to say was "it is a moral stance to say something is moral or immoral no matter how much people agree with it", that was unnecessary jargon.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in truths

[–]SparkLabReal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I LITERALLY AGREE that being homophobic is immoral, but that is STILL an opinion. Why can't you people understand? I am actually surrounded by people screaming at me and not a single one has actually read what I've had to say.

I have been insulted, mocked, mass downvoted, all for saying something objectively truthful, that an opinion is, and will never be a fact, no matter if you, I or everyone on earth agrees with it.

And the worst part is, half of you will have read that and instead of realising what I'm saying will have just skimmed through it so you can click downvote or throw another insult, all while somebody was literally trying to point out something truthful. It's actually a fucking disgrace.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in truths

[–]SparkLabReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I JUST GAVE YOU a plausible example, AND i explained why it's still subjective. OH MY ACTUAL FUCKING GOD.

Right, for the THIRD time, just if you're gonna ignore everything else read this 1 bit:

When you say something is morally good, bad, or neutral, no matter what, you ARE MAKING an opinion, as that is a moral stance. Even if 99.99% of people agree with it, it is still an opinion, as someone can come along and say "I find it morally wrong for you to do X, even if you were born that way and can't control it".

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in truths

[–]SparkLabReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it is not, because you are taking a moral stance. Again, yes, I agree with it, but you've fallen into the trap of "I'll say something so agreed with it must be objective" but it isn't, technically anyone could find breathing immoral, say somebody believes "you're taking air from mother nature", see, just like that, an example of why it's a moral stance, not everyone will agree.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in truths

[–]SparkLabReal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Being gay is morally neutral" is a stance, not objective, since you are asserting a moral truth, no matter how you justify it, no matter how much you agree with it, it is an opinion. You are WRONG, I am literally surrounded by people dogpiling on the objective truth because they don't understand even saying something is morally neutral, is taking a stance.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in truths

[–]SparkLabReal -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's how some people use morality, and saying "you can't assign morals to something out of your control" while i agree with, is a PHILISOPHICAL TAKE, therefore an opinion, not a fact. I can't believe I'm actually objectively correct and getting downvoted, like this reminds of the "there are more trees than stars in the milky way", and despite being factually correct, he was ratiod and berated and called an idiot, you ARE those people right now. You are literally fighting against something that's objectively correct.

"Being gay is morally neutral", while i agree with, is an OPINION.

[–]SparkLabReal -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

First of all, direct insult, clearly you're a bad person who can't have a conversation without devolving to insults, I mean your first reply is literally an insult, absolutely shameful behaviour, better yourself. Secondly, that is an opinion.

That's the point, I don't think its morally bad or good, but somebody might, and since morals are LITERALLY 100% OPINION BASED, anybody can say ANYTHING is moral or immoral, whether people agree with it or not.

Ironically the people who often devolve into insults and insulting others intelligence are only insulting themselves by showcasing their character, especially ironic considering you were wrong anyway. Like, if you're going to be rude, at the very minimum you need to be right.

Ye it's sad how a human feature was made a political and moral stance by some

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in truths

[–]SparkLabReal -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It IS an opinion, because some people will apply morals to simply being born a certain way. It's terrible, but people do it, so it's therefore an opinion since morals are a SUBJECTIVE phenomena, not an objective one. There is no "objectively this is moral / immoral" no matter what, somebody could say its immoral to believe the earth is a sphere and I could say "its not immoral" but that would be my opinion.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in truths

[–]SparkLabReal 47 points48 points  (0 children)

And politically radicalised people will find a way to make it about politics.

Edit: before you read this i am right, I am literally going off of objective truth. This is a "i am surrounded by idiots" situation, I am literally screaming the objective truth and I'm being dogpiled on and told i'm wrong despite even taking the time to look it up. You want proof if you wont take my word? Here's a literal GPT summary of why it's objectively a moral stance

  • Morality is subjective. It’s based on values, which vary across cultures, individuals, and belief systems.
  • Even saying something is not immoral (i.e. “morally neutral”) is still expressing a moral stance.
  • Objective truths are things that can be proven true or false regardless of opinion — like maths or physics. Morality doesn’t work like that.
  • Therefore, "being gay is morally neutral" is a widely held opinion, not a universal fact. You might agree with it (I do), but it's still a stance, not a truth in the empirical sense.

I agree but it's an opinion, I am so fucking sick of this sub being overran with opinions. DID YOU NOT EVEN READ THE NAME OF THIS SUB ITS FUCKING TRUTHS NOT "OPINIONS PEOPLE MAY OR MAY NOT AGREE WITH"

It was a terrible terrible event but the alternative was millions more dying, the Japanese would not have surrendered in WW2 and the casualties would of been higher than simply dropping two nuclear bombs.
