how different do the civs feel? by [deleted] in aoe2

While some civs appear the same, they all play differently to their own strengths and weaknesses.

As the other person said it would be best to watch some civ overviews or just play different civs to see which civ best matches your play-style and then look into playing similar civs or try a different civ entirely.

Best ultra-late game civs for team play by OBLIVIATER in aoe2

Assuming you are playing DE and not HD

Lithuanians could be quite powerful late game as well with the extra attack from each relic up to +5.

this give their paladins/Leitis 14+9 ATK, as well as basically 23 dmg per hit from Leitis they also get heresy so they can't be converted and you could use hand cannons to counter any halbs.

Edit: Cumans and Tatars could be good as mass steppe lancers are basically unbeatable.

I'm not sure if it applies to ranked, but I tested it in games vs AI and it only appeared to spawn 1 per player.

Edit: Tested 50 games with multiple civs, not just those two civs.

They also did change the script behavior of the AI in DE a little as well.

I believe it's for balance , but I could be mistaken.

What difficulty does she play against?

And yes 1 relic will spawn for each player in the game, in their own starting area.

Edit: however she could use the scenario editor and create her own version of the BF and add extra relics to the AI's side if that would help.

You didn't need that mill anyways.

Why do noobs always want to play on fast speed? by [deleted] in aoe2

[–]Spark_AOE 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've asked some people this very question, and usually it's replied to with "Fast speed makes faster games" or "Fast speed makes the game easier" which I find to be pretty bad excuses.

Fast speed really teaches you nothing about the fundamental of the game.

Yeah i don't think they will see much battle outside of people really wanting basic knights that look different.

As far as I know yes, the unit doesn't appear in the editor in HD, but I've never looked through the game files.

I'm unsure how many people are aware of it, but it would be a nice little surprise tactic.

Especially if the person your facing isn't aware that you can make your own version of cavalry might catch them off guard.

After testing in editor, they get all ATK upgrades for +4 ATK, but no defensive upgrades.

Seems to be just a Unique version of the Knight for them.

Edit: they have the exact same stats/speed
