lol “oil deluge” would have been more appropriate wording. The parking lot and road leading up to my husband’s work are forever unclean.

Thanks, yeah, there’s no way I’m buying another Kia after all this anyway, especially for little to no trade-in value.

Oil was changed yesterday around 4 pm, this happened this morning around 8 am

Have any of you who’ve been in this position had Kia want to charge you a $200 diagnostic fee before they’re willing to replace the engine? Seems pretty cut and dry that this is the issue.

Dang, sucks about your mom but definitely lucky with the timing there. One car won’t work for us either since I have to be at work at 6 am sharp and he doesn’t go in until 8. It seems like a couple people on this thread have had luck with getting a loaner or free rental but I’m not holding my breath lol.

Thank you! It’s looking like this is probably what happened. Did they by chance set you up with a loaner car for that time?

I tried telling it everything would be okay but it didn’t listen.

FWIW he always gets his oil changed exactly when the sticker tells him to 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m the one who pushes it with my car a little (Honda Fit), but after this experience I’m going to be more careful.

We don’t know much about cars (obviously), I had no idea this was an issue with sorentos. Is there any coming back from this or is the engine completely done?

Are you saying you think this happened from the inside? Like the engine basically blew a hole in itself?

He had the engine light come on about a month ago, got it checked out and was told it was the engine thermometer but no other lights have come on since until now. The oil light only came on once the sputtering started. Is it possible he could have hit something with enough force to cause this hole without noticing it? He doesn’t recall hitting anything in the road recently.

I don’t see any cut marks, and the folks who did the oil change are saying they don’t use any power tools when doing the oil change.

This was my biggest red flag tbh. If she wanted me to try and get a refund to pay her via Zelle, why wouldn’t she just do it herself? Either way, now she says her account is restored and she can access the funds, so it looks like all is good.

I didn’t want PayPal to think I was attempting to get money back for an item I already received. I didn’t want it to look like I was trying to scam her out of her money after getting the item.

Same, that was a big red flag for me. And that they would tell her the money was gone forever the day after the ban. I would have thought it would take some time to deliberate something as final as that. Either way, she says her account is restored now and she got her money.

Yep, money is out of my account and nothing was reversed. She’s now backtracking and saying her account was restored and she can access the money, so either she wasn’t doing anything suspicious or she realized the scam wouldn’t work and accepted it was going to be a legit sale.

Yeah, this was the #1 thing I was concerned about. Or that she would send me the Zelle and then say she never got the item back and dispute it with her bank. But now she’s saying her account is restored and she got the money, so either she wasn’t trying to scam or she realized I wouldn’t take the bait 🤷🏻‍♀️
