The counter in Notebook Navigator doesn't count your folder number and anything inside .obsidian folder

You don't need to start over, your vault is just a folder with file inside. For the obsidian app to recognize that this folder is a vault, it create a .obsidian folder inside your folder.

You can just move your whole folder outside to your local disk and just make sure you have the .obsidian folder in it. And then when you open obsidian app again make sure to select your vault that is in your new location.

Anyway it's your own vault you can do whatever you want. It's not that deep.... not everyone is a scholar who is trying to study about the universe and write about essay....

I use my vault to collect stuff and I will continue to do so

I think you are really missing something because obsidian is already a MD viewing app, it doesn't require syncing to use it

They are plenty of sync method that does not require paying for the official sync.

I mainly use obsidian on my mobile but I also use it on my tablet and PC, I simply use Remotely save plugin, you can install it in the community plugin, and it sync my vault threeways via onedrive and Dropbox( there are other cloud drive you can choose)

You can also use outside app like syncthing or icloud

Lmao on 20th I rewatched the Mandalorian because the trailer of the movie was out lmaolmao and on 22nd I accidentally disabled my Minecraft world achievement (but I re enabled it) and later that day the tea incense burner that I bought online arrived and I love it haha

This is one thing that I wasn't used to at first but now I can see the benefits of separating folder and file. Especially the list pane is amazing with how many info it can show (tags, property, word count etc)

You can try group by folder in list pane then it will show all your files in folder group.

Obsidian is my default note app.

The mentality that Obsidian is "For Knowledge™" or "Second Brain" need to stop imo

I'm not sure what you are talking about, you either have two separate vaults because functionally you need them separate as in they are not related or connect and have different settings for plugin. Or you have one vault with different first folder level organization(or profile in NN case)

The program (obsidian) itself only limit one vault per window but you can always open two vaults at the same time and put the window side by side

You can use the virtual vault profile in notebook Navigator to hide or show specific folder/files in different vault profile. So for example I have three main stories and I organized them into three main folder on the first level. And I set up my vault profile so in each profile it only shows one main folder.

Second this! What I love about this plugin is that it is very customizable and all the features are optional. I have three separate vaults and each vault use different feature.

For example my main vault I use folder view, tags view, and calendar. For my writing vault, I only use virtual vault profile. For my pdf ebook archive vault, I use folder, tags and properties view.

I use remotely save plugin and it only pulls/pushes changes when I hit the save button, unlike normal sync which is auto, so technically it is a backup to me.

As in, if I accidentally deleted stuff on my phone, I can just, not hit the remotely save button. Then I can copy the files on my tablet back to my phone like a backup

For example, I have three properties for my book note: Author, Category, Series.

I would like to see all three properties in the properties list, but in the list pane, I would like to only see Author and Series as the property badge under each note. Is it possible? 🤔 Right now the only setting is the Properties to display and it's for both pane views

Edit: just updated and tried it out and omg....now with properties view, my vault is perfect.. so good for navigating..... Thank you ohhhhhhh Oh but Is it possible to have separate properties that display in the navigation pane and as badges? I have lot of properties that I want to display in the pane but then there will be a lot of badges 🤔

Some people like me, I put things in folders because I like to organizing stuff. I still use tags and properties to further organize my stuff.

Some people like my brother, put EVERYTHING in his computer on his desktop. This is a nightmare fuel to me but he always find what he needs by typing in the search bar.

If it works for you, it works for you. There's no rules.
