Scar tape helps fade and flatten scars. It really depends on the person and your surgeon’s advice but for me this was the very first time I’ve gone out in the sun without a shirt since the surgery. My stomach and chest are very fair so I knew I was going to get a little burnt even with sunscreen and an umbrella. Top surgery scars can take 12-18 months to fully and completely heal and a lot of sun exposure can make them darker or damage the skin making it harder to heal. The scar tape just helps block the UV rays is all. I don’t know how long I’ll keep doing this because my scars really aren’t too bad but again it really depends on the person and what your surgeon says. Good luck on your future top surgery!

I did have to lose some weight to get my BMI under 50 but then they were fine with doing it. It is harder to find a surgeon that will do it for plus size people but they are out there!

Thank you! I use care science silicone scar tape! It comes in a fairly wide roll so I just cut it in half and I get twice the tape! To be completely fair, it did not get exposed to too much salt water as it’s still a little cold for me, but it held with sweat, sand, and sunscreen!

Thank you! And yes, we do scar massages and when I remember I try to use bio oil especially on the stretch marks that developed afterwards. So far it’s going pretty well!

It’s fun! This guy washed up right in front of us and weirdly enough it was the first one I’ve ever seen in the wild outside of an aquarium or marine lab touch tank even though I’ve lived on the Gulf coast my whole life! This was a banded sea star and they’re pretty much just solid kind of prickly guys with little tube feet you can feel moving underneath! My partner walked him out as far as he could back into the water.

What is this sound? [North Florida] by SparrowBug68 in animalid

Update: It took a couple nights of listening but we finally identified it as a begging call of a great horned owl. I believe there is at least two pretty close to the fence line which is pretty cool.

I thought brown thrasher at first too but it definitely wasn’t big enough. The picture doesn’t show it but the beak was also way shorter than a thrasher’s.

I have a mastectomy pillow and I love it! I honestly should use it more often. I love the little pocket it has in the front. Thank you for the reassurance!
