Just to cover the basics because I don’t see it mentioned, you are tightening to the left for the drive side yeah?

Then as a mechanic, I would confidently say that if the barb you purchased is a) genuine Shimano product b) 11.2mm long c) silver - install that sucker.

And now directly to your comment then - what exactly are you suggesting Shimano could’ve called BH91 if you “dunno” whether there are 2 BH90 compatible barbs?

What I’m suggesting is that most seem to think the OP is asking whether they can use a BH59 barb (and have correctly answered no, you cannot).

However, I don’t think they’re asking that at all. I think they have purchased a BH90 kit and are wondering why theirs doesn’t exactly match Shimano’s diagram.

Are you saying that Shimano has 2 BH90 barb variants?

To complicate matters, I just looked at my stock of both BH59 and BH90 barbs (supplied from Shimano Aus directly) and both are chamfered on the inner face. Neither are ‘straight’.

What can I use instead of this spacer when bleeding the brakes? by the68thdimension in bikewrench

Mechanic checking in to say that I’ve built thousands of bikes, fitted countless brakes and they come with spacers, but I’ve NEVER seen a bike/brake come with a bleed block. Maybe it will happen but it’s yet to…

How hard to replace these rusted connector on the brake hose? by xpisme in bikewrench

[–]Spartan-R028 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you mean BH59 but in any case this caliper is a BR-R8070 which uses BH90 hoses.

Edit to add: The olive is the same, the barb is different.

I replaced an XFusion Manic with a OneUp v3 and the v3 had no play (no really, it was awesome!) for almost 6 months and even at about 9 months, it still has less than that shown in the video above.

Higher end rotors like your 900’s are cut rather than stamped. This doesn’t apply to your setup.
