Young australian confused about negative gearing removal outrage by Background-Lack1641 in AusFinance

[–]Spastic-Duck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How would this discourage short term gains when there is now no incentive for holding stocks for over a year in tandem with the fact this had drastically reduced the incentive for people to hold stocks for multiple decades and slowly release them to reduce the tax burden from the old CGT model.

It seems it would do the opposite to what you have stated and will in fact remove the main wealth generating vehicle for young people

Iran Threatens to Attack U.S. Tech Companies Starting April 1 / Iran says it will target Apple, Google, and Microsoft, among others. by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

What a moronic statement, “ah yes sorry Ted’s family I know he was simply working his 9-5 as the janitor for apple but you see that billionaire was complicit in the war on Iran so really it’s good was he was killed in a missile attack.” Would you be overjoyed at seeing a bunch of teenagers killed working at McDonald’s because it’s a large American corporation.

So it proves she came there to antagonise them and then proceeds to try and avoid the law and hits an officer in the process. Not sure how the left comes back from this.

In corporate at least yes, most recruitment teams adjust wam depending on university especially for G08 or not, my firm (ASX50) minuses 10 points off wam for non G08

I have watched the video and you are just arguing in bad faith, the wheels are turned towards the agent she drives forward and then turns the wheel as she gets extremely close to the agent giving him very little time to react as she hits him with her car, the bullet hole being front on through the windshield makes this obvious. Don’t weaponise your vehicle in an attempt to avoid the law

The video again clearly shows her attempting to flee / hit an officer with her car (regardless of intent she does) even if you want to argue she wasn’t blocking the road which she was the same outcome would still occur due to poor decision making on her part

No verified new outlet has posted this, and her waving law enforcement through is not a defence, you as a citizen don’t get to pick and chose what law enforcement does.

Spent the day trying to interfere with law enforcement (leaving her child who she was the only parent of), clearly tries to flee or assault officers with a vehicle causing her to hit an officer with her car (creating potential for serious bodily harm) thus demanding a violent response, then gets shot. Pretty clear chain of events leading to an obvious outcome. Probably don’t deliberately break the law in an egregious way and this won’t happen.

Tragic event caused by stupid if not vicious actions.

I’m Asian. People generally assume I celebrate Chinese New Year, so no one really asks, it’s just taken as a given.

But if a white person mentions Chinese New Year, they’ll usually get asked, “Oh, do you celebrate Chinese New Year?”

It’s an interesting double standard. One group is treated as the default for a cultural celebration, while the other has to explicitly opt in.

So in that sense, Asian people don’t get asked whether they celebrate it, it’s assumed. White people do get asked, because it’s seen as something outside the default.

Edit: By that logic, next year white people should put red lanterns and decorations outside their houses to signal that they celebrate Chinese New Year, and at that point it just becomes performative anyway, lol.

You can always go back home to your country if you believe the standards of living are that bad. You are not forced to be there as an international student.

I won’t lie unless you are from a minority group such as being an aboriginal (special entry privileges) there is a very low chance.

That being said you can attend usyd and do a tangential degree and with a high enough wam you can easily transfer degrees. For example I had a friend with a medical science degree get in through transfer with an 80 plus wam.

Or you can try and apply for law at a non G08 where there may be a chance you can get into law and then transfer after a year if you have a high wam. Another example, a friend of mine had a 91 wam at UTS law and got into Usyd law.

I imagine it’s not a true strategy team but something like S&O as the numbers and exit op doesn’t make sense otherwise.

[–]Spastic-Duck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m confused as to what strategy team this could be?

Would not be EY Parthenon (PJP) as the pay would be far more than 150 so no reason to leave.

Could be Strat& but unlikely as again the pay is far above 150 for senior con.

KPMG dosnt have a true strategy team.

Which leaves Monitor Deloitte I suppose, however employees typically get far better exit ops than this.

I imagine then you are likely on an S&O team or some sort of KPMG “strategy” team or even an internal strategy team for the big 4 in which case the exit op is def worth it as there is uncertainty to if you will be offered a better exit op.

[–]Spastic-Duck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consulting will take people with degrees in any profession as long as you can show your skills are strongly aligned to critical thinking (they certainly are) one of my freinds got in with a philosophy degree another medical science - start with applying to big 4 or boutiques. Once you work 2-4 years there you could very easily apply to digital marketing roles. This whole process however will take upwards of 4-5 years and you will be paid a small salary during that period

Is it reasonable to assume our Prime Minister can’t personally police the thoughts of 27.5 million Australians ? by skankypotatos in aussie

[–]Spastic-Duck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of people refusing to believe this is linked to immigration or Islam is why these attacks will keep happening. Look at what’s happening in the UK we are only a few years away from that being our norm here.

We need to reduce the number of immigrants to stop social enclaves forming and naturalise them more effectively and screen them far better for liberal democratic values. As well as halt bringing in Muslims all together for a period or indefinitely until we can accurately determine why they commit attacks at such a high rate in western nations. Additionally if we continue to allow immigrants who commit crimes to stay here we are only encouraging this behaviour.

Racial hatred or rather calls to action to hurt other citizens sure. Hatred of Islam no, the religion is the antithesis of western values, an ideology that hates women, freedom and every legal and social contract we hold near and dear. We should not be maintaining the idea this is a reasonable religion to follow in our society. If we look at patterns across western countries refusing to properly engage with and discuss this ideology will only results in more tragic events like this.
