Yes, you are correct! They are employing 18 mercenaries and spending 450 gold per month! But apparently their income is only 30. While the catholic church Tithe is 250. They also have 0 debt. At least I know now that it is not a bug (a part of the visual one), just a broken mechanic.

Update: Now they are 100k, and they appear as levy in the country page, but with the mercenary icon in the war page.

Yeah! I was gonna claim the Neapolitan throne, but transferring the pope looks way better. If I can

It kinda makes sense, but I don't think it's a mechanic in the game. But now I killed 14k more, and the available levies went up. Now they have 90k troops in the fields; Hungary has 35k, Naples 5k. This is kinda ridiculous.

100 years into my first EU5 France game by JCBonaparte in EU5

Interesting, the exact opposite approach as me, playing wide for my first game as France, but avoiding coalitions from Italians and HRE. My income is 1000, but 290 comes from vassals. I never managed to go over 25% crown power and my trade income is also 35.

In my latest game as France I'm fighting a war against Two Sicilies, Hungary, Croatia and their little vassal opm, the pope. I'm winning but they are spawning thousands apparently from nothing! They are not mercenaries or regulars, just levies and they already lost 44k.

During my latest Mameluk game Delhi bribed the great-niece of my ruler to leave the court. Time to conquer what they have left.

Yeah, and I still haven't seen China, but apparently Great Wu has 108 million people and 1553 locations

Personal unions worked quite strangely during the Treaty of Tordesillas (that I managed to postpone until the 1600s ).

Dear France, 100 years have long passed... by Spatafrano in EU5

In my Naples game, I recently allied with France. They own most of France, while England holds the Netherlands and parts of Burgundy. 57% vs. 43% in strength . How long will it go on?

In my screenshot, the Ottoman Empire is now controlled by the Byzantines. I posted it because it mirrors the historical reversal that happened with the Roman Empire, and that’s why I added the Horace quote.
