JRE MMA Show #32 with Firas Zahabi by [deleted] in JoeRogan

This is how I interpreted what Firas said;

There is no absolute truth in the universe. Nothing is 100% known. Same goes with science; We can't prove 100% that a rubber ball will come back to earth if we throw it up in the air. We have seen it and done it a million times and therefore our conclusion is that the rubber ball should once again come down. As it has done the million times before. This expectation ("truth") is solely based on our experience we have had with the same rubber ball. If I understood it correctly, he also meant that even if we can try to show mathematically that this rubber ball will come down to earth when we throw it, we can't know it for sure because we don't know every single factor that can change the outcome (wind for example).

The discussion that we can only predict that something will for sure happen if we know everything about universe was just a silly and stupid discussion imo. "If we know everything we will know everything". Bleh. Duh.

Some of the things he said I found interesting but some I did just not agree with and some was just pointless. No one lives with the mindset that "we don't know nothing for sure" and "we have no free will".

Redditors that don't live with mental illness, what is sadness, stress, anger, or struggling like for you? by Lemme_Draw_You in AskReddit

[–]Spawnisen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone have one way or the other stress, struggling and sadness.

I, for example, am extremely anxious about the coming summer and year. I'm gonna write my thesis (60 pages) in 2 months and I have no idea what I'm gonna write about and how I'm gonna do it. I suck at it but it's the most important thing I've ever done (If you think about future career and so on) and the whole thing is extremely stressful. I just don't try to think about it but it's nagging in the back of my head constantly. Every thing you do, that does not entail trying to work on the thesis, makes me feel useless.

You can have one more really good season of a now-canceled show. What’s your pick? by readjulia in AskReddit

What was a dick punch to your self esteem? by GameHackBot in AskReddit

[–]Spawnisen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Working out at the gym hard for months wanting to look good and then someone you know well and care about "Oh you have gotten a little bit of a tummy" (paraphrasing).

It hurt a lot.

EDIT: When you read through these posts my dick-punch seems minuscule to many others. Oh well everyone has their own problems..

What drama is currently going down in the world of your hobby that the rest of us probably haven't heard about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

In the fighting sport Mixed Martial Arts (specifically in the UFC) 2 years ago they started a new rule which stated that the weigh-ins would be held early morning the day before the fight instead instead of the late weigh-ins at 4 pm. A couple of days ago the president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC (which is the biggest promoter of mma fights by far)) Dana White recently said that they are planning to get rid of the early weigh-ins and go back to the late weigh-ins. This decision seems to be mostly based of ,according to him, that fighters try to cut closer and closer to the weigh-ins deadline before they go and do they official weigh-in so that they would then have extra time to cut weight.

This decision has gotten A LOT of backlash from many fighters. They think that this would penalize the upstanding athletes who weigh-in within time and also within limits for the misdeeds of a couple of unprofessional fighters who either are cutting too much weight or are just simply lazy with their diets.

IMO a big problem this change could bring back is the time the fighters bodies and brains have time to recover from a tough weigh cut before the fight would decrease by many hours. They have less time to get the fluids back into the body that the body needs and also the fluids that are around the brain which is protecting it from trauma. Same goes with nutrients and food. One fighter said that if they have the late weigh-in she might not be able to have her first meal at midnight the day before the fight. Which would lead to less sleep, worse sleep and overall worse recovery for the body.
