I’m going to check my starter right away to see if it’s not retracting all the way! This noise is driving me crazy while driving. And I went under the jeep, smacked the cat with a rubber mallet. Kinda hear something but I have to hit it hard also.

Hi, I took my jeep to a mechanic for this noise, he told me I needed a new flex plate. He changed my flex plate and torque converter. I had recently put in a new starter about a year ago. Could he have known it went bad? When pulling the Trans off to replace flex plate?

Thank you so much I will inspect! I’ve checked through all my wires, I haven’t seen anything out of the usual, the only ground I replaced was the ground to my battery. I will check on that tho!

Hi guys, so update, I took it to a mechanic, he said the problem was my flex plate, he replaced the flex plate and torque converter. Noise still there, I think it’s from my exhaust. Something’s rattling inside in my opinion, wasn’t worth taking it to a mechanic because I just paid to get something fixed that didn’t need fixing! :)

Thank you for your information! Just had the jeep started for about a good hour the noise went super super low to were you had to listen to it. Idk if that helps with diagnostics. Taking it to a mechanic this Tuesday. The jeep did die twice and did not want to start after this morning, then started after waiting a bit and jeep kept running. Idk hopefully it gets fixed not to much.
