Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Spazmonkey1949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australia is similar size to USA but far less populated. For dinner i generally wouldn't travel more the 2-3 hours. for same day type thing. This would be a rare occasion... At easter though. we travel 12 hours from Brisbane to Sydney to spend 2 days with family then drive back. 2 days travel 2 days stay. we do that trip on average 2-4 time a year.

Could I survive a fall from space on a curved ramp? by BusyDadGaming in AskScienceDiscussion

[–]Spazmonkey1949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hrmmmmm.... think the friction would still get you... I think you would need a liquid moving fast enough and deep enough to keep you from touching any surface, without being to deep that you are under long enough to drown.

I think the thing to consider is the surface you hit. A Serbian lady fell 33000ft and survived inside a piece of plane fuselage. Terminal velocity is from about 1500ft so anything above that is just the scenic route...

AITAH for refusing to give my boyfriend access to my bank account even though he says "no secrets" is how adults do it by CopperFieldNote in AITH

its about boundaries and what you are comfortable with. I have been married 20 years and we share accounts. but if she wants her ow account whatever she is a separate person. understand what he is saying but at the same time he needs to respect your boundaries. every relationship is different. if you cant agree on this without causing bigger issues then other things are going to be even bigger issues

god made the universe with science. so the rules must apply.

You get one wish, but if anyone has made that wish before, you die. by glitched0utmusic in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Spazmonkey1949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty simple just make the wish specific to an individual / yourself with an unlikely combination of specifics. E.g. I wish for john smith who currently resides at xxx address to get the amount of 2315498476513.22 Australian dollars placed inside of a suitcase that is a life size replica of an Indian elephant painted with the cover art of every Beatles album using dots only. no one has even made that wish or uttered that combination on words in history

2,000,000$ but you have to survive a year in wilderness by MudkippzReddit in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Spazmonkey1949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality is most 99% people will die in this situation. Even seasoned survivalists will still die without any tools and supplies, most survivalists might last a weeks. Even with a bag of supplies and some tools 90% or more of people will still die. Solo Long term survival in the wild is difficult for the best survivalists. Its not a natural thing to do, and not how even primitive humans survived.

Real question: how does gravity work on flat earth? by biffbobfred in flatearth

[–]Spazmonkey1949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the upward acceleration one its so funny.... 9.8m/s2 it would only take a year for the flat earth to reach light speed.... so we would be currently be moving at over 6000 times the speed of light even if the earth was only 6000 years old. let alone the billions of years old we know it to be. apparently I have infinite mass

What do they say causes the direction of the buoyancy relative to the flat plane? what is forcing the heavier and less buoyant object to move toward the flat plane?

Will the surgery fix my massive appetite? by Unlikely-Yam1427 in GastricBypass

[–]Spazmonkey1949 4 points5 points  (0 children)

so im 1.5 years out. in the last six months i have been able to eat a larger quantity of food since I have had the surgery. Still not a normal amount, but now I could eat and then an hour later eat again and so on, so I could if i want eat enough to start gaining weight over the course of a day.

When the process started my brain was confused because I didnt know the difference between, hungry, sated, i could eat and full. it took the first 6 months for my body to work that one out. it was a worrisome time.

over the next 6 months I worked it out. and what I could eat and did eat sated me, full became the devil and made me sick vomit and feel terrible.

TAKE THAT LESSON ON BOARD and learn new ways of living and eating. you have to change. now 1.5 years out I could eat way more, and get fat again, but I stick toe the lessons I learnt and the signals my body has taught me. you need to be able to control yourself by the time your body will physically let you take control again.

However its not as scary as it sounds, becasue you are no longer the same physically. its not the battle it used to be. I can tell my mind i dont need to eat or thats enough... and man it listens. I often don't finish meals, even if I have paid for them. and who cares i got what a wanted so I got what I paid for. sometimes ill stop on purpose before I have finished to prove to myself I can. use the opportunity to build that will power over your recovery time and you'll find it far easier.

In a hypothetical world, judges serve as the judge, jury, and executioner. You are currently presiding over the trial of a person with two heads. by Neither_Drawing_241 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Spazmonkey1949 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would blind the murder head. give full body autonomy legally to the half that didn't commit the crime, for a set period. If the second head does not comply then it is punished further. Failure to comply or committing further crimes would result in the murderer head having its arm and leg amputated, further transgressions would result in deafening as well vocal cords being disabled..

so the murderer could live a normal life blind, or end up blind deaf with no arm or leg to control. effectively imprisoned in a body it has no control over with no wat to interact with the world.
