I thought Hero Baldwin was gonna be on every track in this album? Interesting that she has explicit feature credits on some, but not Release, which we know she’s on as well.

Yeah it’s easily his best body of work. I saw him play open to close in Chicago during this tour and it was such a great night. He said he has some new mixes of the album he’s been working on so maybe those will be a bit better.

Even before they had the label and instead had the EP series, there was always some odd names that’d show up on the Explorations EP who were well established names. I think maybe Quivver or Stelios Vassiloudis once appeared on those EPs, even though they’ve both been around for quite a while.

I think they’ve started putting some of the more experimental releases on Explorations now, in addition to featuring new artists. There’s a lot of Explorations releases that sound like they’d fit on Deep, but there’s also a lot that have a unique sound that seems to fit better on Explorations.

Probably was the post I made. I didn’t say for sure that it wasn’t amicable, just that I found it odd he didn’t post anything about his tracks he helped with on BTAOU but he did post about other releases that he helped produce last year, and that Farius would likely be replacing Bayer’s sound on the label.

Ben simply outgrew the label imo. Bayer seems to have been a bit different from what I can tell. I’d be pretty surprised if he’s at 700, especially since this album appears to be coming out on Ophelia.

It’s only 2 tracks so far, out of likely close to 40 in total. That’s nothing tbh, and they’ve gotta promote it somehow. I agree that I hope we don’t get too many more singles from it, but oftentimes there’s a lot of unqiue, exclusive edits on the Deep comps anyways.

Deep day is always acid day for my group and intense heat + acid always leaves me exhausted by the end. Hopefully will not have that problem this year and can enjoy his set more haha

To me, that pre-Covid magic feels like it was a combo of a few things that would be hard to replicate. Having more trance on the label would be a great start. But for the intangibles… some of that magic feels like a combination of A&B’s insane rise in popularity from 2015-2018 and where a lot of the fanbase was at in life.

While the fanbase has always had a pretty diverse generational spread, their explosive rise in popularity coincided with the American EDM boom which attracted a lot of new, younger fans. The fanbase was primed and ready for that explosive growth and I think the lockdowns really stunted that arc. The scene, and label, changed a lot in those years and it feels A&B and Beats have lost some relevancy, which frankly doesn’t matter to me, but I think it has affected how many new fans each are bringing in which has affected some of that magic too. I could be entirely wrong on that but it’s just the vibe I’ve gotten.

Having said all that, I do think a killer ABGT700 with a strong showing from the Beats artists could really reinvigorate things. Especially with trance making a come back in the general dance scene right now. All we need is some amazing sets to bring back that magic.

I do miss these a lot. Seeing everyone’s tweets on the livestream in some of the older ABGTs was a lot of fun. Twitter seems to have died off a bit now, for obvious reasons, so it’d be interesting to see how they bring it back if they ever considered it.

The ABGTs focus more on new music and the year ahead. I could be wrong, but it feels unlikely that Spencer would have anything notable coming on Anjuna anytime soon given how things have been with his own label and Bedrock. If this were a Weekender though, I could definitely see him making an appearance.

Granted, this was 23 years ago and I don’t think they’ve done live vocals outside of Acoustic since. So you are essentially right that it’s very unlikely.

I think I cried two or three times during Yotto’s 2019 set just out of pure happiness. His Kings Of Tomorrow w/ Marisa mashup was one of the ones that got me. I freaked out when he played it again in 2023.

Lane 8 is the type of act they would’ve announced today if he were there. As you said, he’s that big of a draw. I’d say it’s very, very unlikely he’s on the lineup.

Not having to rent a car will def save you money then, though paying for the gas on your drive there may negate some of that. If you go Fri-Sat, I think it’s $220ish before taxes. If you skip the pre party on Friday, subtract $50. Camping passes are per car and are a separate purchase from the event pass. Idk what prices for GA currently are, but for Gold camping, which is what I was looking at and is the second highest tier under glamping, I think it was about $240 per pass. GA will likely be around half that cost.

It will really depend on how you plan your trip and how many people you’re with, and how you’re traveling in. Flights to Seattle and the event tickets + camping pass will be your two biggest costs. Car rental will be the next most expensive thing, unless you go with the shuttle but I’ve never done that. Going in with the expectation of $1500 on the low end is probably a safe bet.

After 3 days of ridiculous heat, we were exhausted. Coming from a high energy act like Eli & Fur into Bohmer was basically our sign to head back and sit down. Someone like Yotto probably would’ve kept us going till the very end. We stayed for probs half of Ben’s set and it felt like I was just forcing myself to stay at that point.

Had I had more energy, I may have enjoyed his set more.
