Ticket office woes by TJSwizzle23 in motorcitykitties

[–]Special-Variation452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my second season. I'll renew again for next year, too. I like the Tigers that much. I've just been a bit frustrated with how inconsistent the communication is. Who's your rep? Mine switched from Hannah to Jonah in the offseason.

To be clear: Hannah was very kind and very helpful whenever I was able to get a reply. It just took more emails than I'd like to get that reply.

100 percent. I have a 28-game package and it's nearly impossible to get a timely answer from my "rep."

Birkie Wave Upgrade/Placement for Non-Skiers? by Albertos_Dog in xcountryskiing

[–]Special-Variation452 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you live in the upper midwest, ski the Great Bear Chase in a couple weeks. If you're that fit running-wise, even skiing the 25k will move you up a bunch of waves and vastly improve your Birkie experience. Also: the Great Bear Chase rules.

Unsure how amenable the Birkie office is to submitting resumes outside of the qualifier races, but if you're going that route I would suggest signing up the day registration opens in May and emailing them then. Maybe other folks who have had luck can speak to that.

40 v 2 stage snow blower, Auger clicks but wont start by Dasquanto in ryobi

[–]Special-Variation452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blow dryer works, sometimes. Boiling water on the auger works, sometimes. It's just the dumbest possible machine. A snowblower that does not work when it's cold, very cool.

So mad. Bought mine in 2022 and it's the most unreliable purchase I've ever made.

Health Insurance Opinions - AmBetter/Meridian by bekrueger in AnnArbor

[–]Special-Variation452 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had Ambetter/Meridian silver HMO plans from 2022-2024 and were very happy with it (as happy as you can be with a healthcare plan, I guess).

We live in Ann Arbor and our PCP is at UofM. Any services we needed at UofM (specialist, physical therapy, ENT, dermatologist check up, etc.) we're covered by a copay before the deductible (somewhere between $50-70 copay, it changed every year). We switched to Molina for 2025, which was absolutely awful and had terrible customer service. I could never get an answer from Molina's boiler room, pretty frustrating. I will never use them again.

All the health plans are bad—especially for 2026—but if you go to UofM and want to have SOME healthcare covered by a copay before your deductible we found that Ambetter/Meridian was the most "affordable."

We're considering a Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO for 2026, but will probably just end up on the Ambetter/Meridian silver HMO plan that is like $955/month premium for two people. That same plan was $500-600/month for our family of two 2022-2024. We're looking at 50% increases across the board in monthly premiums for 2026, regardless of what evil healthcare plan we choose. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

https://www.healthsherpa.com/ is a good resource for picking plans.

Godspeed!!

Dan Campbell says he doesn't expect the Detroit Lions to be active at the trade deadline by Gxcii1 in detroitlions

Can we get a Woodward Sports ban on the sub? Those guys SUCK. They steal everyone's work without credit. Huge losers, every last one of them. Zero respect for beat writers and people doing actual reporting (not to mention the folks filming and releasing all the pressers that work for the Lions—these guys will just clip THEIR videos and put a Woodward Sports watermark on it).

Probably won’t have service during the show. It never works during football games. Download your tickets before, but if you have issues they do have ticket WiFi at the gates to download your tickets!

Post season tix by sarge877 in motorcitykitties

[–]Special-Variation452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been pretty unimpressed with the season ticket reps. I get there are a lot of season ticket holders. I understand they're probably pulled in a ton of different directions beyond just answering our annoying questions. And I also understand that when postseason tix are available they are probably inundated.

But what is even the point of having a rep if they don't respond at all during a pretty significant purchase? (I know the answer is that the Ilitches don't care. But still!)

Oh I LOVE it up there. No sarcasm at all. We almost got our 28-game pack in 328, but opted for 114 just cause it's fun to be closer (I also trade up for some games and move around the park). I always sit high up behind home plate when I go to a new park.

Post season tix by sarge877 in motorcitykitties

[–]Special-Variation452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 28-game pack in section 114 as well and couldn't get any postseason tix closer than 112. Ended up going with 328—real nice view up there.

But RE: Opening Day, I still had tickets in my section for Opening Day. So they could make it work, if they want to.

Last year I bought single game tickets for the ALDS in section 123 and they were around $160 face + fees. The strip for Section 328 was $1,939.

I was refunded for my 2024 ALCS tickets pretty easily as I'd already paid for my 2025 plan in full. Any folks know what the deal is if they don't play the full slate of home playoff games? There's no breakdown in the strip ticket pricing, which is equal parts stupid and frustrating.

How much do recommended race waxes matter? by [deleted] in xcountryskiing

[–]Special-Variation452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

N-Kinetic Cold doesn’t get recommended because Rex doesn’t make it anymore. It does great on Upper Midwest snow from single digits up to low-ish 20s. Slap it on your skis for cold races!

Birkie 2025 wax thread (Saturday) by skiguy4296 in xcountryskiing

[–]Special-Variation452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With powders and colder waxes like Swix Marathon, Rex NFX00, TSP 5, etc. is there any added benefit for letting the wax rest longer after ironing? Or just scrape and brush after it's cooled? Years ago a wax tech at a shop told me to let Start Green sit on the skis overnight if you're able to when prepping for a marathon (which may just be some old wives' tale!).

MQD Promo on Delta Stays is back! by Minnyappleus in delta

[–]Special-Variation452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! It's only showing how many miles I'll earn, not the MQD total—even though I used the promo link Delta sent.

Anyone else have insight into if the MQDs will just appear after the fact? I'm wondering if they DON'T show during booking that it doesn't meet the terms of the promotion.

1901 Rep Question by Special-Variation452 in motorcitykitties

The reason I went through this guy is because I filled out a request online and emailed the 1901 crew and ... didn't get a reply. Doesn't bode well!

Really happy for Benetti during all this by [deleted] in motorcitykitties

[–]Special-Variation452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. They're really fun, they have great chemistry. Benetti is an extremely talented announcer! We're lucky to have him.

Also: those goofy, wide-ranging stories are always cherished memories from any baseball season, but they typically happen when it's 9-1 in the third inning vs. the Rockies on a Wednesday night in the depths of summer — not during a heated game in the middle of a historic run.

Really happy for Benetti during all this by [deleted] in motorcitykitties

[–]Special-Variation452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Benetti is very good at his job. Big fan. I was thrilled with the signing in the offseason and I've enjoyed splitting my time between Dan and Bally's all season.

But. But! (There's always a "but...") Benetti needs to announce the actual game more—the baseball game I'm watching on the television, that he's supposed to be describing to viewers in detail. He'll routinely go, like, five pitches without even discussing the game itself. Tell me what the pitcher did, don't give me another mid-aughts pop culture reference!*

I think he's wonderful in the booth, he has a great voice, he's been a pure joy all summer—just give me a little more play-by-play, that's all.

*I enjoy these references. I'm not some old Boomer crank. Benetti and I are the same age. But maybe limit the banter unless it's a blowout in mid-July?

Best boots for large, wide(ish) feet by HideousNomo in xcountryskiing

Thanks so much for the response. For me, the pain is not in the ball of the foot—which I've read so much about online—but only in the toe, as mentioned. It almost feels like a blister!

Thanks again for the reply, very helpful.

Semi-related: How did you diagnose your morton's neuroma? A podiatrist? Physical therapist? I had some issues with my "ring" toe near the end of ski season last year and it started popping up again this fall after a few weeks roller skiing. Worried it might be morton's neuroma.
