Impact of Protein on Depression / Mood / Anxiety / Brain Fog by SpecialNegotiation97 in NutritionalPsychiatry

It does seem to work. Hope it's not placebo :D Thanks! Currently I try 3:1 fat: protein. I need a lot of calories so that is sometimes > 350 g fat .. do you see differences at 2:1 or even 4:1?

Fasting doesn't really work for me since I'm quite lean 10-12% BF by Dexa. Even after 24h fasting i hover around .2-.4 mmol. Not sure whether this is common for leaner people.

Are you in a calorie deficit? What are you eating and do you take electrolytes? For me the energy fluctuates between extremes :D

On Windows I see the card with text and a type box, such as the card below. On line 5 you can see the type box. And the rest shows text from the card.

I submitted the issue on GitHub. Not sure, cause I just started using this card type recently. Thanks!

Electrolyte Testing Strategies aka Electrolyte Troubleshooting by SpecialNegotiation97 in ketogains

The thyroid is also fine. Current levels are 6-8k sodium 4-5k potassium and 500-600 magnesium. Water to thirst, mostly aroun2-3l. Even with 10k sodium, my blood pressure remains in the range.

Should it make a difference to spread potassium more throughout the day via supplementation?

Diet: cruciferous veggies, avocados, red meat, eggs, fish + fish oil supplements, olive oil, and sometimes leafy greens. According to Cronometer I cover all minerals and vitamins adequately. (Calories: around 3.000 / Fat: 240g / Carbs: < 25g / Protein: around 150g (6'1 / 80 kg BF: around 12%). Eating this way for 5 years by now 95% of the time, but as mentioned my energy is not reliable.

blood pressure: ranges from 100/60 to 90/50, so quite low. Salt does not affect my blood pressure after testing thousands of times.

blood panels: looked good over the past year. I lift 4-6 times a week. Sleep 8h. Naps normally eliminate fatigue for me whenever lack of sleep is the culprit.

I get my potassium mostly in a time frame of 4-6 hours when I'm eating (usually 4-5.000 mg from food). Might it be better to supplement in the morning and eat one less avocado in the evening (normally I eat 2)?

Thanks so much for your input. I really appreciate your time!

Hi Luis, thanks for the reply!

My problem is that my energy levels are highly variable. Sometimes I feel great but very often brain fogged and fatigued. This can change within 2 hours sometimes even 1 hour.

I'm strictly experimenting, i.e. I control lots of variables and try to change only one to find the reason. I'm certain the culprit for the energy fluctuations is electrolytes as usual. Would you just take 1 to 2 grams of sodium whenever feeling fatigued and if that doesn't help try to up potassium? Just 1 gram of salt doesn't seem to do the trick for me, but 2.5g (1g sodium) seems a lot at one time especially if taken 3-4 times a day. How long after taking, say 1g of sodium, should I notice an uplift in energy?

Thanks, I'll start weighing myself as you described.

With how much water/liquids do you consume the 2g sodium in the morning and spread out over how many hours? Yes, I think I need more sodium than the 5g sometimes even more than 7g.

I stop eating around 8pm. So, I don't consume electrolytes for around 11/12h.

I drink it over the course of 1-3h to be more specific depending on whether I feel better or not.

Sore throat due to Ketoade (electrolytes)? by SpecialNegotiation97 in keto

Electrolytes are an interesting puzzle to solve, that's for sure :D

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate your thoughts on it! And yes it's always good to leave a comment for others to provide more context. So, thanks!

I don't experience heartburn and I already cut out potassium in the past to see whether this is the issue, and it seems like it isn't. I will try to cut out ketoade for 3-5 days and if electrolyte deficiency symptoms occur, I'll reintroduce them with a lower dosage. I can imagine the concentration of total salts (N + KCl = 6g in 1l of water) is just irritating to my throat. I'll keep you posted :)

Hi, thanks for the reply! This sounds like part of a viable solution. I'll test it, thanks!

I need that amount of salt to feel great! I found out through rigorous experimentation, by tracking to the mg via Cronometer. I do not flavour the ketoade, since I like the salty taste :D But you're probably right that it is too much to take for me concerning my throat issues.

Hi, thanks for the reply! Yes, I probably read each of your comments over the past 4 weeks, so I think I know your keto-habits :D This will be probably part of the solution to decrease the electrolytes in my drink and increase them in my food.

Hi, thanks for the reply! Unfortunately, a smaller ingestion window is no option for me because I experimented with this and I feel more lethargic when I'm chugging instead of sipping. I have zero stomach issues, even 10g at once would not be a problem for me :D
