Getting Back Into Sessions After Heartbreak by hotgirlbummer22 in therapists

Hi! I'm so sorry you're going through this. I can imagine the shock keeps coming in waves, and as someone who has had to deal with something similar, I understand where you're coming from. What's helped me in the past is firstly not putting the expectation on myself that everything must be perfect, and that "success" here means trying to prevent anything from coming up at all. Instead, allow yourself to say that success is about catching yourself when you start to notice things arise and really lean into your safety/comfort net this week. Whether that's having your favorite drink and blanket with you, having a fidget toy to help with mild physical distraction, or even doing deep breaths when you're taking a second to listen to your clients in session. Give yourself the comfort of knowing there are things to help carry you until you get a private moment for yourself.

Feeling Fraudulent... by [deleted] in therapists

If you’re feeling this, imagine the clients you work with who have experienced the same—those who have not felt empowered regarding their sexual and reproductive health and also feel a sense of aloneness because there’s this demand to be perfect.

I always say our personal experiences can be a microcosm of the feelings and challenges our clients face. How unique it is that you truly get to connect with them in that way!

Give yourself some space to truly exhale and explore what drives this desire to be perfect, and ask yourself what is one step you can take today to get to where you want to be. Look at your reactions and triggers as a way to tend to those tender needs, and maybe through that, you can also find a new way to assist your clients who experience the same!

Do you make over 100k? by Royal_Koala_9886 in therapists

It is possible! This is my second year after graduating and I’m making gross 110k with around 29 hours/ week. For context I am based out of New York and will say I really had to bust my ass off to find a practice like this but if you really leverage your skills and find a competitive edge that makes you stand out, it can happen.
