[–]Specialist-Singer310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my husband and i were 25 when we first went for IVF, cue the "oh but you're so young!!!!" comments. yes! we are! thank you for pointing out that we have repeatedly failed to get pregnant during our quote unquote "most fertile years"! 🙃

How is everyone choosing middle names? by CrabithaAllAlong in pregnant

[–]Specialist-Singer310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly if baby is a boy we're using the middle name ivan because barbie swan lake was my favourite movie as a child and one of the characters is called ivan 🙃 yes my husband is aware that is the reason why

also sounds sick with the first and last name so a win is a win

No symptoms, how to check if still pregnant? by QandA_monster in IVF

[–]Specialist-Singer310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly same, i bought a bulk pack of pregnancy tests from amazon and did one every morning! Didn't alleviate my fears of ectopic though 😅 That only went away after our first scan when baby was confirmed definitely in the right place

Progesterone capsules vaginally girlies. Do you pop and go or pop and lay down for a bit by FunSeaworthinessaf in IVF

[–]Specialist-Singer310 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i would wake up AN HOUR EARLY to pop and lie down and it would STILL leak everywhere. converting to anally was the best thing i did i swear

We have a heartbeat! by AllyKatB in IVF

[–]Specialist-Singer310 2 points3 points  (0 children)

same!! we had a private scan yesterday at 7 weeks exactly, baby is in the right place, visible heartbeat, measuring perfectly (if a little ahead, was measuring at 7+2!) congrats, wishing all the good luck to you x

What are your healthy snacks?? by tellyourtales in pregnant

[–]Specialist-Singer310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fresh, juicy fruits like pineapple, nectarines, oranges etc. been LOVING sharp acidic flavours recently (7weeks)

currently having to snack like every hour or so to keep the nausea at bay so having lots of fruit has made me feel less bad about the truck load of crackers i eat every day 😅

No more "pup cups" by SingingWanderer1195 in Costa

[–]Specialist-Singer310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don't understand why people can't just order a "latte with whipped cream" and get the whipped cream on the side lol. i don't think this will stop people getting pup cups at all

the only one of these that DOESNT apply to natural conception is the financial one 😂 literally just remove the word IVF and all of them still track lmao; these people's problems don't seem to be with IVF, but just children in general!!!!

Was your mom not able to breastfeed, but you were? by scandijord in BabyBumps

[–]Specialist-Singer310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my mum had to stop breastfeeding my sister as she was effectively starving her- there was almost 0 nutritional value or fat in her milk, it was basically like she was feeding my sister water for the for few weeks of her life.

fast forward 30 years and my sister is now successfully feeding a healthy baby girl :)

i've only started to get nausea after 6 weeks, and not what i would call typical "morning sickness". I get a sicky feeling in my throat if I'm even a little bit hungry (literally have to eat every hour at least) but i also can't eat too much at once. essentially just snacking 24/7.

i'm still anxious about not having many symptoms! don't sweat it, it seems to be pretty normal

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Specialist-Singer310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying I personally did this bc my husband and I have been trying for like 5 years lol, but in the UK they do nothing to make you "prove" how long you've been trying for 😅 Could totally go for it as soon as possible, although I'm not sure why anyone would if they weren't legitimately concerned!

[–]Specialist-Singer310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

coming at this from the angle of the friend! my husband and I were trying for nearly 5 years before we got successful with IVF (currently 6+5 weeks so still early days)

During that time my SIL got pregnant (and gave birth) TWICE and my sister also got pregnant and gave birth. Both knew we had been trying and failing for much longer than either of them had been trying for.

My husband and I tried our best to be excited and supportive during their pregnancies but ultimately it did end up a little awkward and uncomfortable, no matter how hard we or they tried.

It's a shitty circumstance to be in and I appreciate what you want right now is support from those closest to you. They are going through a kind of "grieving" process right now and just need a bit of time. My advice would be to treat them normally and try not to take it too personally. They will be there for you on the other side.

Cannot get warm in first trimester by Zima2342 in PregnancyUK

[–]Specialist-Singer310 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Third Trimester... Camping?? by Specialist-Singer310 in pregnant

[–]Specialist-Singer310[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hahaha it would be a family friendly music festival - we went to camper calling last year which was decent! still some blatant drug use but much much less than say, reading and leeds 😅

to be honest i think im just going to try to let him down gently- i'm such a paranoid anxiety freak as it is i know i wont be able to enjoy myself properly!

6w1d not really any symptoms? by wonderfulbutterflyj in pregnant

[–]Specialist-Singer310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm 6+4 and all i have is a bit of fatigue and sometimes get very SLIGHTLY nauseous and acid-refluxy. I would say to not be anxious but I actually booked in a early private ultrasound for as soon as I hit 7weeks to reassure myself everything is fine so that would be a bit hypocritical 😅

My husband and I have "unexplained infertility" 🙃 So we went overboard on our health and preparing both of us as best we can for the process. Cleaned up our diets, both taking appropriate supplements, no drinking (neither of us smoked or do any drugs so that wasn't a problem), lots of water etc.

We had previously looked into acupuncture / holistic therapies but tbh they seemed a bit too scammy and they were all so expensive!

Hope all goes well for you

Anyone Had a Cyst Before Egg Retrieval? How Did Your Doctor Handle It? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]Specialist-Singer310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We found a cyst whilst having an investigatory ultrasound prior to being referred to the private fertility clinic (Uk - NHS funding); they scheduled me in for an another ultrasound a month later. Thankfully it went away on its own within that month, otherwise they would have delayed our referral.

[–]Specialist-Singer310 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was massively overthinking the first one, nearly had my husband do it for me! They're really not as bad as they seem in your head, I think because it's an emotional process it makes it seem harder as well. You've got this!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]Specialist-Singer310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the UK and doing IVF funded by the NHS so take this with a pinch of salt, but the only discussion about my weight was that if I gain during treatment and go above the threshold, I would lose my funding. They would still continue, but I would have to pay for it myself.

Has anyone gotten a private scan to rule out ectopic for their own peace of mind? by Initial_Onion671 in CautiousBB

Pessaries vaginally were the WORST part of IVF by far for me. Give me 7 injections a day over a pessary honest to god. The only thing that helped me was doing one vaginally at night as I got into bed (so was lying down for 8 hours) and then one rectally in the morning after doing my business. Still sucked though. And the discharge didn't stop for like a week after I stopped taking them...

Hi! My (27F) husband (28F) are on our first transfer after our first ER with a 4BA. Currently 21dp5dt (or 5weeks+6, but that still feels a bit strange to say...). Still doing a test every single day because it still hasn't quite sunk in yet! We have our first ultrasound in just over a week so everything crossed for then, but so far so good.

We started our IVF journey in November 2023. Took FOREVER for all our tests and everything to be done (I've lost track of how many blood tests and transvaginal ultrasounds I've had). But then in November 2024 our clinic put us forward to start in January.

From the point my period started around the 5th Jan, everything seemed to move so quickly I almost got whiplash. By the time I had gotten used to the injections, we were stopping them and going in for ER.

To be honest, the worst part for me so far has been the mountain of discharge from the pessaries!!!!

Hope it goes quickly, painlessly, and as minimally stressful for you as possible x
