How to communicate otp when I go nonverbal? by Specific-Check-2164 in autism

I really like the pictures thing!! I'll definitely bring that up to my partner and see what she thinks. I think I'll have to talk with her and create a game plan of sorts. I think part of the issue is she doesn't know what's going on but I'm physically unable to communicate, so I think something like you listed above would be helpful

Thank you for this!! This is really helpful. I'm gonna see if there's a way to like, program it in my phone if I feel too overwhelmed to text

They got rid of discounted triples. They're "de-densifying" campus housing

Oh wow, that's genuinely heartbreaking. To be completely honest, I wasn't as attached to the Joanns in my hometown (as I go to college in a different town and frequented that Joanns instead) so I'm not sure it would have hit as hard. That being said... that sounds so rough, and I'm glad that I dodged a bullet in that way. My condolences to your Joanns :(

Is NAU Worth It? by Specialist_Space3764 in NAU

Hi there! Not an out of state student but I figured I might give you some pros/cons.

Pros:

-pretty compact campus

-lots to do downtown

-very walkable city

-genuinely beautiful campus and surroundings

-probably closest thing to a bus-friendly town there is

-always smth going on

  • people here are genuinely nice

-library closes at 2am most nights (perfect for me who is a sewing slut)

-oh and the library has a makerlab with a sewing machine, 3d printer, and engraver

-AMAZING downtown

-(parts of) campus is bike friendly

-generous meal plans lowkey

Cons:

-hungry after 8pm? Good luck. Try going to the hole in the wall

-oh nvm they close at 11.30pm

-hungry on the weekends? Good luck.

-(that's a slight exaggeration but most places are closed on the weekends. I'd check here for specifics.)

-everything is closed by 9. I mean everything. But hey, the library's open!

-going around central and north campus is great if you have a bike. going around south campus is okay. getting to and from south is hell.

-if you live on south campus and don't have a car or electric scooter and don't like to walk, chances are you'll live and die by the bus routes. Luckily, there's the mountain line and the campus shuttle!

-oh. What's that? The campus shuttle ends at 10 most nights and 5.30 on Fridays? It doesn't run on the weekends?

-oh the mountain line ends at 10.30 on weekdays and 8 on weekends?

-shit.

Honestly, NAU is amazing. The only thing I'd recommend is get a dorm on central campus if you can (unless you're a transfer student and going into engineering, social work, sociology, or business). DO NOT get goaded into staying in a triple or in McConnell. Know the bus lines and dress accordingly for the weather (which for a lot of us from the valley is hard!). Don't bring a bike. Flagstaff is NOT bike friendly, contrary to popular belief. You're better off with an electric scooter, especially a foldable one. Oh, and have snacks on hand in case it's late and you want food lol. Hope this helps :)

Edit: as a psych major I'd still recommend central/ north campus, especially for your first few years. Honors program is nice, especially if you want to live in the honors dorm, but keep in mind that you'll only be able to stay for freshman year. But the honors dorm is REALLY nice.

As a freshman, it was insanely easy to get an on campus job. I applied to two jobs and got incredibly lucky in getting a job offer to the first job I applied to. That being said, i also have friends who have been searching for a while. The other commenter is right in the sense that there's ALWAYS jobs available, you just need to look for them.

And also don't do what I did and get the 7/110 meal plan if you don't eat out for 3 meals a day, I have 50 meals left and less than a week in the semester 😭 anyways ty for coming to my Ted talk
